Bang !!! A sound so loud that it resonated in the entire hall by a palm hitting on the table.
"What did you just say?" Xander was already very, very angry. And I don't blame him because even I didn't know what to say. Just because I am a woman, I had no say in the matters of the court, no right to be the next luna. Just because I am a woman. I couldn't control the emotions that were running through me.
"Am I lying? She is nothing but a scorn to this land. It is even worse that she isn't the rightful heir......"
"ENOUGH !!!" Dad shouted in order to prevent an upcoming fist fight. But at that moment , thr damage had already been done. I didn't even know I was trembling at that moment till Xander called out to me.
"Princess, calm down. We'll get to the bottom of this".
"Xander, he said am not..." I couldn't even make a complete statement anymore. The doubt had already been planted. I looked over at mum and noticed that she too was angry. Was she angry for me or for the fact that her secrets were almost spilled? I had been hearing small talks about this matter before but I didn't know if they were real or not. I don't know what to believe in anymore.
"So this has been going on in your pack, Roid. You can't even protect your own daughter's reputation and yet you claim to be wise. Some elders you have. To undermine your authority and talk in whatever tone they want. Even when you are present. Some Alpha you are" Xander snickered "Roid, I will be taking her back with me at dawn. If you all are actually serious about our wedding, then you are more than welcome to visit us at the Shadow pack in the next two days".
"But, our traditions and customs...." One of the elders spoke up.
"f**k your traditions. Do I look like I give a f**k about it. I am taking my mate away from here and that's final"
All the elders looked at each other with doubt clearly seen in their eyes. All had something to say and yet, they couldn't say to it. Everywhere was quiet until mum spoke up.
"Alpha Alexander, I understand how much you care about my daughter as she is your mate but I will not allow you to disrespect our traditions and whisk her away from home without her permission".
"Her permission huh?" Xander said with a bone chilling smirk. "So if I can get her permission, I can take her away right?" I didn't know why but I felt a little anxious when I heard that question.
"Zoe, do you or do you not wish to depart with me and leave this land?" And there it was. The dreaded question. Doomed on both sides. If I am to choose to leave with Xander, I would be deemed as a traitor who abandoned the pack for selfish interests. And if am to stay back, I would lose him and forever be tied down to this place.
Deep down I already knew what I want. I just hope that I will never regret this decision.
"I do. I wish to leave with Alpha Alexander and have my wedding ceremony at the Shadow pack"
Everyone was shocked by my decision. Never have I went against my parents order so it was pretty easy to know how livid they were at the time. But I knew what I wanted.
"Is that your final decision?" Dad asked me with anger sounding clearly from his tone.
"Yes Alpha" I said sealing a fate I already knew of.
"Then you are hereby banished. You are to leave immediately and to never return. If you are seen anywhere in the land, you are to be arrested and excuted for treason. This is my order".
Hearing the verdict, I went weak on my knees and Xander had to hold me up. I knew the outcome but I never expected Dad to actually issue it. I looked towards mum in hopes that she could get Dad to say something but she turned her face away, clearly disappointed in me.
Xander took me away from the hall and gave the word that my luggages were to be packed and loaded in the carriage. Everything happened so fast that before I even knew it, I was already aboard the carriage with Xander next to me, tightly holding onto me.
"Hyah". The horse moved and I glanced one last time at the land I once called home with a heavy feeling. My senses had been numbed that I couldn't hear Xander calling out to me. Closing my eyes, I accepted defeat not knowing when next I would come back here.
But fate had another thing in line as the next time I came back, was to lay waste to a land I once called home.
