THE RISE OF THE DRAGON QUEEN.

THE COMPETITION

After a long night sleep, Richard regain his aching muscle. He woke up with just little ache, he got up only to find out that Arnold had left leaving him breakfast on the table. He sat and pounded on the food because he was extremely hungry, after he finished eating, he decided to take a walk outside in order to search for the girl he met recently.

Richard stood at the exact spot he met Lily. he then saw a group of boys training, he decided to have a look then he saw that it was a competition for a post in the palace, Richard thought that if he could participate, he would be able to eat anything he wants in the palace if he wins. He didn't even ask the post he would be fighting for, he just applied, he had no battle skill but he relied on his magic ability.

The competition started and Richard made his way using magic unknown to him, magic was forbidden but since his father had always told him to hide his powers, so he did it with out catching the attention of anyone except his father's friend who saw him and tried to talk him off but since he had signed up, he could not back out. The competition went on from noon till nearly dusk till it was adjourned till the next day. Richard was so glad that he reach the next level but Arnold was worried because he would be working as the protector of the prince and magic was totally forbidden in the castle anyone caught would be burnt alive and that scared Arnold because there was no way he would be able to protect him if he becomes prince Eric's man servant. After the first round, they held a banquet in honour of the finalists. The prince Eric was surprised to see Richard there because he looked like a weak child but yet he surpassed people stronger and mighty than him. Everyone drank to their satisfaction but those who were preparing for the final battle stayed away from drinking. They just sat watching others get drunk, Richard not satisfied sitting among drunkards decided to leave, just as he was about to leave, someone threw a cup on his head, this was a way to demand a fight. Richard decided to walk away but then the person insulted his mother, this made Richard angry, he charged at the person with all his strength that he ran into a table when the person dogged him.

The fought but Richard out of anger and tried to beat the man all by himself by using his physical strength and it lead to him being battered beaten and bruised.

Arnold heard that Richard was being beaten, hurried over and was right in time to rescue him, but on getting there, Richard had sustained several injuries so Arnold took Richard home and treated his wounds and also gave him medications to reduce the pain which made him sleep in.

It was not until noon he woke up, realizing that he was already late for the final competition, he just put on his clothes without bathing and headed to the training ground. The fight had already began, the didn't allow him to play until when the prince gave permission, the prince was thinking that Richard would not be able to win so he allowed him to participate in order to make him a laughing stock even if he was behind schedule.

They fought bravely till it was only just four people left, the were shared in two pairs. Each fought till one of their opponent was defeated leaving Richard and a tall giant. It was the last match and it would determine who would win and who lost. Richard knew that he could not win without using his powers, so he used his powers to win, that was when he realized that all his tired less effort was for a post to be a servant to a spoilt brat. The competition ended with Richard as the winner and he was appointed the role. He was to protect the prince with his life, and made sure to test any food Eric was to eat firstly. On hearing his duties, this made Richard sick he wished he had know before he ventured into it but it was definitely too late to back for, he would remain an errand boy to a spoilt brat.
