Nicholas POV
I stood by the window and watched the rain lashed heavily on the office window. The once gentle drizzle had grown into a steady downpour, the wind whipping the rain into sheets that blurred the city lights.
I didn't notice I was pacing back and forth until Leonard's voice called me out of my worried state. “What's on your mind?”
“Nothing serious. I'm just concerned about the rain.” I lied. It was not a complete lie, it was half the truth.
“Are you saying the rain is making you pace back and forth?” Leonard pestered. I knew he wouldn't let go of the topic until I gave him a satisfying answer.
“It's Nicole.” I paused, searching for the right words to use, so I wouldn't show my worries about her.
