He knew he should have gone after her. Tell her that he had no idea. Yell at her to explain things. But he couldn't move. It felt like a void had opened right beneath his feet and he was falling with no end in sight. It was all too overwhelming. A part in him wanted to yell at her and ask her to stop lying. He wanted to say that his father was a great king even if he was never a good father. That was the only reason he respected him tolerated him. The only positive emotion he could ever feel for that man. And now hearing her words knocked the air out of his lungs. Though a larger part of him knew that there wasn't a reason for her to lie.
