Maddie jolted when her companion reached across the table and snapped his fingers lightly. “What do you think?” he asked. She glanced around the busy restaurant. It was filled to the brim, soft music threading beneath the diners’ voices. She knew it was one of the best in New York. She hadn’t been expecting something this grand. She turned back to him. “I’m shocked you were able to get a table.” He gave a rare tiny smile that lit up his face. “I have my ways.” She took a nervous sip of wine, watching him over the rim of her glass. The resemblance to the twins was jarring; he could have easily been the third triplet. He shared their dark, effortless beauty and those haunting, silver-shadowed eyes.
