Nine and a half years after the pact
"We have six months left Par." Fin informed me, making me sigh.
"I know, they will go to their chosen packs tomorrow. We will keep five of them." I informed everyone in the meeting.
"What about us Alpha?" Some parents asked, looking worried.
"Our job is to stay ten steps ahead and to do that we need to make sacrifices. Do you think we wanted this?" I asked, looking at everyone directly.
"No." Everyone said in unison.
"Then it is settled. Everyones children will go to different packs so they will stay safe. Eric, Talon, Alex, Lucas and Addie will stay here. All members that are twenty-three or younger will leave unless they are willing to sacrifice themselves." Fin commented making everyone go silent.
"Don't forget the plan everyone. We split up when the time comes, if we don't scatter we will die within minutes. There will be no fighting back or you will not die right away, we want this to go as quickly as possible. If you do survive, come back here in December, no earlier or they will find you and kill you." I reminded them before dismissing them.
"Are you sure five months is long enough?" Fin asked after everyone left.
"Of course. I know my uncle and he is one impatient bastard. He will think we are too scared to come back after two weeks. But the five months is for everyone to mourn before they come back and barrie their friends and family." I reassured Fin as I ran my hands through his hair.
"We should have Addie leave... I don't want my babygirl to get hurt." I could feel his shoulders shake a little and practically hear his heart brake.
"Babe... I don't like this either but if I don't keep them here he will know we sent most of the pack away. At least the twins get to leave along with all the other kids. This is a small sacrifice for the safety of them. Besides, we will protect them, they will survive even if we don't."
"Don't say that... You , the boys, Addie and I will live through this." He stated matter-of-factly while hugging me tightly.
'If only you knew what I was going to do to make sure nobody would hurt you guys.'
-- -- --
"Do we really have to go?" everyone whined making me laugh.
"Of course you guys have to. I wouldn't make you leave if it wasn't necessary. But remember, if anything happens to us, keep an eye out on each other. Never leave each others side and come back for Addi and Lucas, they will need you." I said while ruffling everyones hair.
"We will momma."
"Karma, stay here for a second." I called out while everyone else was leaving.
"What's up Paris?" Karma said, looking curious.
Pulling Karma out of sight I stood in front of him. Karmas natural red and black hair gently blowing in the wind as his deep blue eyes looked into my soul. Gently touching his face and taking a deep breath I began to talk.
"Stay hidden, don't let anyone know who you are. I am trusting you to be strong and to never come back. There will be people coming after you even though you aren't my child. Make everyone fear your name and only come out when you are called by one of us. We are a family, even if it's not by blood."
"What do you mean? Why do I have to hide, I should fight with you."
"I know Karma, you are my brave boy. But your brothers and sisters will need someone to look after them and I want it to be you. You are nineteen, you have more resources than the rest and you better use them. Don't let me down Kay." I whispered as I kissed his head.
"I will make you proud Par."
"You already have." I smiled proudly at Karma, taking a mental picture before I let him go.
"Take this, it's my favorite one." Karma said, handing me a necklace.
"Thank you Kar."
Karma's POV
Ten steps ahead is all I need. I told myself for the thousandth time today.
I've been on a plane for the past eight hours. The pack I chose to go to is in Australia so I still have a long way to go. On the positive side I found a way to get ahead of the enemy that Paris thinks I don't know about. Being an orphan has taught me how to pick up on subtle things and eaves drop on people without them noticing. So, thankfully I have heard my fair share of conversations to know what I am doing.
Quickly taking out my laptop I went to the black market, looking for bounties on people with certain facial features before finding the ones I was looking for. There are six bounties that were placed around nine and a half years ago. In the fine print it says that it will not be activated for another five months two weeks four hours and 42 seconds.
Pulling up my extremely illegal software I can locate the IP address that it was posted at. Although that won't do much good, there's no telling where the user has moved since then. Running the address anyway I found our old pack house. This must be bigger than I thought.
Writing the address down I disconnect my laptop and placed it back into my bag. If the IP address remains the same then the suspect will be hard to find, but if it changes I can track down who it is by who traveled into the specific sections in the same time frame. Using facial recognition it could run a few suspects in a matter of five minutes.
In other words, I will be five steps ahead in a matter of minutes and nobody will get hurt. Sighing in relief I leaned back into the chair. All I have to do is wait five months two weeks three hours and sixteen minutes.

"Alpha, permission to speak?" I asked in the meeting after they explained the situation.
"Of course." Alpha Cain said before sitting down and letting me stand to get everyones attention.
"I don't mean to come off rude to any of you but... Paris gave me orders and I have to follow through with them, so I have to pass on the offer. I have to make a name for myself and not just take a position over because of who my adoptive parents are.
The reality is I have to be who I was meant to be. Karma is the name I chose for myself and that is what I will be. I need alliances that a Pack can't offer me... So I am moving to Australia and forming my own band."
"What does being in a band have to do with anything?" Beta Simon asked.
"It will let me have connections with both humans and shifters. Plus the amount of times I travel won't raise red flags. Not to mention that if any of my eleven siblings need help I can support them emotionally and financially. They will be by my side the second they tell me they need me."
"And if it fails?" The gamma asked making me roll my eyes.
"Simple, it won't." I declared, my eyes turning slightly red.

Seven Months Later
"That's him." I growled while throwing a knife at a picture.
"How do you know Alpha?" Mink asked, slightly shaking.
"I remember his face, he was there the night the War happened. The person that was talking to Paris before fear flashed in her eyes along with regret. This so called Uncle of hers is the only one that could bring both of them other than Fin." I explained as I pulled up a database on my laptop.
"What should we do?" Link asked, irritation in his voice.
"You are going to get everyone ready while I figure out where he is. We leave tonight to kill this bastard." I grunted, typing faster.
After a few hours I was able to pull up a location and growled when I saw where he was. "We are leaving now." I said through the mind link as I ran out of the office with my laptop tucked under my arm.
The entire flight to the States was torturous as I stared at my computer screen. Watching every breath, step, word, everything. I watched as he slaughtered the pack I was forced to leave and as Parisr ran away with Addie and Lucas.
Switching my view I watched what Paris was doing.

Paris' POV
"Run, Lucas run." I croaked at the kid crying in front of me.
"Lucas." I whispered as I wiped off his tears.
Looking into his sweet innocent eyes I whispered my goodbyes before setting him in a tree and running off.
"Talon, boys hurry up." I whisper shouted as I heard their feet hitting the ground.
"Paris-" Talon started to say before his throat was ripped off.
"No!" I screamed at the werewolf in front of me before I caught his scent.
Quickly changing into my wolf I growled, walking from side to side as my eyes never left his.
"Paris." My uncle said in a sickening tone making me shiver.
"Shift." He commanded making me growl at him again.
He soon took the hint that I wasn't going to shift and growled at me. His eyes changed to the color black as he got into a fighting stance. I quickly changed my eyes to red as I started to run at him, teeth bared and head held high.
We both scratched and kicked at each other while trying to tackle the other. I wasn't paying attention to any of the surroundings until I heard a familiar high pitched yelp. "Addie." I said, snapping my head to the left.
I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen but I continued to run to where she was. "Addison!" I howled while running faster and faster. I launched myself at the vampire holding my baby by the neck. Quickly snapping his neck and grabbing Addie before someone else could take her from me.
"Paris." I heard my mate say as he ran towards me. Rubbing his head in my neck and kissing Addie as she cried.
I looked into Fins eyes before I sighed in defeat. "Go." I mind linked him while giving him Addie. "Don't come back for me." I quickly ran away before he could process what I said. They wouldn't survive if they stayed with me, nobody would.
"Gotcha!" I heard someone yell right before I felt someone bite me.
Growling I looked at who it was, coming face to face with my Uncle. Quickly jumping on him I tried to pin him down but I started to feel light headed.
I don't feel so good. I thought as my vision started to blur as my surroundings danced and sang.
"Leave her, she will die on her own. Let it be slow and painful." Someone insisted as I heard people starting to leave.
After a while I could've sworn I was dead by the voices calling my name but when I felt sparks on my cheek I slowly opened my eyes.

Karma's POV
We were running for what felt like forever until I finally saw her. Laying in the middle of a field with a big gash in her stomach. There's no way she will make it to the hospital. "Paris."
I kneeled next to her, running my hands through her bloody hair. "Mom." I croaked, waiting for her to open her eyes.
"Karma." She groaned, still not opening her eyes.
"Yeah, it's me." I managed to answer as tears rolled down my cheeks.
"Please... Protect them. Protect your family."
"I will mother, I promise." I reassured her as I stroked her cheek.
"Make me proud son." She said with a smile as she opened her eyes. "And make that bastard suffer."
I smiled weakly at her as her heartbeat got faint until it was no longer. "I love you Mother." I whispered before turning into the direction Paris' Uncle went.
Let the fun begin. I thought as I smirked and ran in his direction.

"Breaking News. Today Paris Ramirez was found dead in the woods just South of Kentucky. Her lover and children are missing, we presume that they are being hunted by the monster that killed Paris." I heard channel five news say before turning off the TV.
"You did it." Fin said making me scoff.
"I was still too late." I said, disappointed in myself.
"You still killed him, that's all that matters. Paris would be so proud of you." Fin tried to reassure me but it didn't work.
"Can we not talk about her? I mean I didn't even get to tell her that I love her. I didn't get to protect her like I wanted." I admitted before tears rolled down my cheeks again.
"She loves you too Kar, we all do." Fin said sadly before looking over at a sleeping Addie.
"I know what she means to you, I know you wanted her to have her mother and a perfect family so she wouldn't be scared. But life isn't always sunshine and rainbows. When the time comes, protect her and don't turn your back on her."
"How do you-" I began to ask before Fin cut me off.
"Paris and I notice everything. Just like how we noticed Lucas will be a very bad person but he will get better once Addie knocks some sense into him." Fin explained with a smile on his face.
"I need to leave before then Fin. In fact, I need to leave now. I can't be near her, I just can't."
"I know Karma. You can go, but always keep an eye on her. Especially after I leave." Fin persisted, making me nod in agreement.
"I will see you in due time Fin." I said before standing up and leaving.
