ELLE I come home to the penthouse around 6 PM and I know immediately that something is wrong. Blake is on the couch. Just sitting there. Not working. Not scrolling through his phone. Not watching the sunset or checking his email or doing any of the things Blake normally does. He's just sitting. Completely still. Waiting. Like he's been waiting for hours. The energy in the room shifts the moment I close the door. "We need to talk," he says. My heart drops into my stomach. This is it. This is where he tells me this was a mistake. This is where he realizes that living together is harder than he thought. This is where he ends things and I have to figure out how to extract myself from the penthouse and the narrative and his life without completely falling apart. "Okay," I say carefully.
