Chapter Three

1109 Words
"You no longer work here, Trisha May," Mrs Evans, the director of the Financial department, stated again, making it clear once more to me. How will I skip a day just to propose to my boyfriend and I get fired the next day? Is it a crime to propose? All my hopes to pay back Mr. Arrogant's money has been shattered. Where will I get money from to start all over? I put my hand on my forehead trying to process everything. It still doesn't add up. "Please Ma, I will do anything you tell me to do from now on. I won't hesitate. Please just let me keep my job." I pleaded again and again. " Fine, write your pleas and send them to the higher ups, not me." Mrs Evans said, seeing that I had begged her enough. " Yes ma, I will do it right away." I quickly went up to my office with joy while whispering prayers that they would accept me back. I am still clueless about everything though, but I don't want to ask any further questions before I lose my job. "Hey girl, I heard you were fired." Stacey whispered through the entrance of my office, tilting her head inside. Stacey is my best friend and partner. We have done a few projects together and that bonded us. "Girl, you won't say." I replied. "Meet you at lunch for a chit-chat. I have to go submit the reports from the last meeting to the Director." She went off before I could reply. Stacey really had hopes of me staying till lunchtime. I don't even know my fate. ********* Kingston Inc. is one of the best firms in the country, and it has branches in a few parts of the state and off the continent. This is one of the branches where I work. The CEO doesn't really come in every day, but there is an office for him anytime he arrives. I guess he is in today. Knock! knock!! "You can go in." His PA standing outside said. His PA seems different today or was there a change on the one day I went off? "Miss Trisha, right?" he asked, twitching his eyes a bit and I nodded. "He has been expecting you." He continued adjusting his glasses. He just looks so innocent and cute. I thought of expecting you as I opened the door quietly so I didn't lose my job. I try to be careful of the little things, so I don't get shouted at and lose my job eventually. "Good morning Sir, I came to submit my letter." The CEO stood backing the door and looking through the glass wall before him, admiring the sight that nature graced us with this morning. I, too, became lost in the sight that I forgot that I was going to lose my job soon. "Step forward," the CEO said, bringing me back from my admiration. I swear I could recognize that voice from somewhere, but I am only concerned about my job. "You made me wait for you, Mrs Trisha Kross." he said as I stepped forward. "I am extremely sorry Sir, I didn't realize," I said, without realizing what he had just called me. "So you do accept your rightful place as my wife, Mrs Trisha Kross," he said, turning around and his back now facing the glass wall. Then the name rang in my ear. It was rude and arrogant Kaiden Kross. No wonder there was a slight change in the PA I saw outside. My letter fell off my hands as I sighted him. My breath raised in each step he took, coming close to me. I began to step backward, avoiding his touch, but he kept coming closer. His eyes twisted, and he gave a big smirk as I hit the door and I couldn't move anymore. He stumped his hand on the door close to my cheeks, and he looked straight into my eyes. I shivered in fear, taking my eyes off him. He raised my chin and my eyes locked with his again. He brushed his cheek again, and I could feel his beard poke me. I felt his breath in my ears as he spoke. "Don't you remember, Mrs Trisha Kross?" I jerked at every word in fright. He never misses a chance to make it clear to him that I am Mrs Trisha. When did we get married?? Did I sign the papers? At that moment, it became clear to me and I remembered signing those damn marriage papers. I recall holding my fist tight as I pressed down each name on the papers, swallowing every tear that wanted to burst out. It wasn't easy for me like it was for him and I know he enjoyed every single moment of it. I felt his hand grab my waist tightly, and he pressed his body firmly against mine. Then I knew what his desires were. "Why...did....you fire...me Sir." I stammered, releasing myself from his grip. "You know, I find it very attractive." "What?" I looked at his rigid smirk, my feet firm to the ground this time. "What you do when you speak. You stammer, and I find that cute." "Are you for real right now?" I cleared my throat and gained my confidence. "Why the heck did you fire me Sir?" I demanded, because I needed answers. "Call me Kaiden, not Sir." I muttered a curse under my breath. "I mean you are Mrs Kross now, so you don't need to work under me, and you don't need to be too formal with me either." "Under you? Formal with you?" It just doesn't make sense. "The Kingston Inc. is owned by me," he said with his hands in his pocket. "I don't care, I just need my job back. How on earth am I going to pay you back?" "Who said you had to?" he said, leaning at the edge of the finely polished wooden brown table at the center of the office. "I don't need to have to fall at your feet because you gave me an expensive ring." I spoke, looking down at him to make my point very clear. "If you are that eager to pay me back, meet me tomorrow at the Kingston Mansion by 5:p.m. tomorrow. "Don't be too early, don't be too late." "Why on earth should I come to the Kingston Mansion tomorrow? I just came to get my job back," I demanded. "I would appreciate it if you did not ask any further questions, Mrs Trisha Kross," he said, placing emphasis on Mrs Trisha Kross.
