I stood in the smoke for three full seconds before I could move.
That's the thing I keep coming back to. Three seconds where I couldn't do anything except stand there with Aria in my arms and let my wolf say what he'd apparently been trying to say for weeks.
“That's her. That's the girl from the ceremony. That's our mate.”
There was no room for argument. My wolf knew it, he knew I knew it, and he had gotten tired of waiting for me to stop being an i***t and just accept it.
I carried her to the medical wing immediately, not allowing anyone else to touch her. Not even Tomas. I sat down in the chair beside her bed. And since then, I haven't really left.
I just want her to wake up so I can see those beautiful eyes again. And her smile.
