This Is Going Too Fast

Rose POV “Oh?” He said, tightening his grip on my waist. His eyes were looking at me as if memorizing my features. His one hand came up and cupped my cheek, moving his fingers slowly. I felt goosebumps erupting all over my body. I immediately looked down, not able to stand the intensity his gaze held. His fingers moved to my chin and lifted my face, making me look into his eyes. “I missed you.” Before I could comprehend what he said, he closed the distance between us and kissed me on my lips. He just pressed his lips to mine. I didn’t move at all, afraid that I wouldn’t be able to keep myself from kissing the hell out of him. He moved away, pressing his forehead to mine. I closed my eyes, savoring this moment. We stayed like that for a minute before he looked into my eyes. His eyes held so many emotions, and I could see that he missed me. His eyes give him away. They speak louder than his words. He then hugged me. His actions are confusing me like hell. He said that this marriage is just like a job, but then he comes and kisses me whenever he wants, melting my heart. The past month has been hell. I missed him all the time. I knew there was some s****l tension between us all the time we were together. But you won’t miss someone if you don’t feel anything for them, do you? This means… am I developing feelings towards Michael? But I can’t let this happen, can I? We’ll be together for 11 more months. And that’s it. What will I do after that? I’ll have to leave him no matter what. I can’t allow myself to love him. And he… he’s engaged. He has someone else in his life, whom he loves, whom he wishes to marry someday. I’m just a passing cloud. “Rose, come out, you guys can satisfy your needs later. I’m hungry.” Arrgh! What the hell are you talking Kate? I immediately broke the hug and stepped away from Michael. “Umm… I think we need to go out.” “Sure baby, lead the way.” He gestured for me to move first. I opened the door to find Kate standing there, grinning from ear to ear. This girl! We sat at the table and started eating. I was in my own world, thinking about us when I heard my mom calling my name. “Rosie, so what do you think?” She asked looking very excited, probably at whatever they were discussing. Since I didn't hear anything, I just went along with her. “Yeah, sure” I didn’t know what I was saying, but hey, blame it on the situation. “Well, then I’ll ask my manager to look for the dates,” Michael said, wait, dates for what? “Dates for what?” I asked Michael who looked at me as though I lost my mind. “For marriage, you just said yes.” He answered, looking like I lost my mind completely. Kate started laughing out loud, once her laughter subsided “I know you didn’t hear a word mom said, where are you lost, girl?” “Hmm… I? Nowhere, I- I’m just…” I didn’t know what to say. “It’s okay Angel, it happens sometimes. Well, mom is asking us to get married. And I said I don’t have a problem if you are okay with it.” “But we’re already- ” “Yeah, I’m okay with the Indian wedding.” He said signaling towards Kate. Oh s**t! How can I forget that Kate knows nothing about our marriage? “We’ll send Rose to your house once you both get married officially. Can we meet your parents to discuss the wedding?” My mom asked. Why is she so excited about my marriage? 'Money dumbo, money! That comes with Michael's name' my subconscious chided. Anyway, did she just say about meeting Michael's parents? His parents know nothing about me. I didn’t even meet them once. Will they allow their son to marry me? Will they accept me? “Angel?” Michael called, moving my shoulder. “Hmm?” “What’s wrong? Are you okay?” He asked concern evident in his voice. I gave him a small smile. “I’m fine. It’s just that I haven’t met your parents yet.” “Don’t worry. We’ll go to my parent’s for dinner tomorrow.” The rest of the dinner went in silence except for Kate and Michael talking about his recent album and his future plans. He chatted with my parents sometime after dinner before getting ready to leave. I walked him out till his car. “So, you're not coming back to our home until after our marriage.” He looked as if he missed me, wanted me by his side. I must be dreaming. Open your eyes, Rose. He sees you like a friend and nothing more. “Well, you shouldn’t have agreed to the marriage. I mean, my parents know that we're married, I don’t know from where this Indian-wedding thing came from.” I didn’t understand where this came from. Are they doing this to convince Kate? If so, we could just get married in a church right? “What parent wouldn’t want to see their daughter’s wedding.” “I guess so.” “Looks like Kate is fine.” “She is. She’ll be completely fine in a week or two.” “Okay, I’ll get going then.” He said, taking my hand in his. He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear before leaning in and kissing my forehead. His forehead kisses are something else. It felt as though he was touching my soul. “Goodnight, Angel. Go back. I’ll leave once you go inside the house.” I nodded my head before turning back and walking inside the building complex. It felt as if I was leaving a part of my heart behind me, with my husband. God! This is so confusing. I turned around to see if left or not, to find him looking at me with a smile plastered on his face. He’s melting my heart. He’s so beautiful. Perfect. Who wouldn’t love him? I smiled back at him before walking inside. I walked into my bedroom, after mom and dad left, to find Kate sitting on my bed with a big grin plastered on her face. Well, time for interrogation! “Don’t you think this thing is going too fast?” I knew she was going to ask this. Well, I technically introduced my boyfriend to my family today, and my parents are planning for my wedding today itself. The word fast doesn’t even cover. "I mean I tried to understand your reasons for hiding this whole relationship thing, and though I didn't find any valid reason for you to do so, I didn't hold it against you. And then instead of showing me some random guy, one that lives across the street or works with you in the bar, you bring Michael Osburne to the house. And don't you think it's too much already? And now your marriage? So fast?" "But it was mom and dad's idea." I reasoned as if that is going to change anything. "Shut up Rose! I know whose idea it was, I was present at the dinner and  I know exactly why mom proposed your marriage in the first place. She's probably dreaming about all the reputation and money that comes along with Michael's name, but what's above my head is why are you both going along with her plan? Don't you know about her? Don't you know that she does nothing unless and until it benefits her in some way? So why?" She shouted. “Well, he loves me and wants me with him all the time. And he’s going to start his tour shortly, and once it starts, he won't be free for a year or two.” I’m lying to my sister. I’m lying through my teeth! “I can see that he loves you. But the question is do you love him? And marriage is a big thing. Are you ready? And don’t forget who Michael is, being Michael Osburne’s wife is no cakewalk.” “What did you say?” I asked completely shocked by her words. “What?” “You said you could see that he loves me, didn’t you?” “Well, doesn’t he?” If only I knew. But how can she be so confident? “He does." I said, turning away from her, not able to face lie to her face anymore, "And I know being his wife is not going to be an easy thing. But I don’t think I’ll be able to live without him anymore. I want to be with him all the time. I just love him.” I said looking dead in her eye, wanting to prove to her that I was ready for this marriage. And somehow I didn’t feel as if I was lying to her. The words felt as they came from my heart. It felt right saying those words for him. Stop! What am I doing? How many times do I need to remind myself that this just a sham? What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I control my feelings when it comes to Michael? I can’t love him. He’s not mine to love. He loves someone else. He’s not mine and never will be.
