Michael’s POV
“I’m attending an award ceremony this evening, and I want you to accompany me.”
She nodded her head and walked away without saying a word, not even sparing a glance in my direction. The past three days have been hell. Rose is avoiding me the very best she can. She’s not even looking at me properly. The night of our marriage, when she said she loved me, it’s nothing less than magical. I was delighted to hear those words from her.
I thought that we were finally getting to a point where we are confessing that the feelings are not one-sided or s****l tension. For a second, I thought that things are going to get better. But here I am again, all confused and stressed.
I know it for a fact that she loves me. Yes, it is love. There is no denying the fact. I can see it in her eyes, the way she responds to my touch, the way her breath hitches every time I get closer to her. It is love. And as for the question, do I love her? Well, the answer is yes. She made her way into my heart the very moment I saw her. Everything about her intrigues me. The way she smiles, the way she talks, the way she understands me, everything. She is the perfect life partner I can ask for.
But, instead of confessing her feelings for me, she’s running away from me. She’s avoiding the truth. Somewhere deep down, I know she knows that I love her. The only thing that’s stopping her from confessing her feelings is her fear. Fear that probably comes with my status and who I am. Today I’m gonna introduce her to the world as Mrs.Michael Osburne.
I pulled out my phone and called Rushika.
“Hey, Mike.”
“Hello, Rush. Are the outfits ready?” I asked Rushika to prepare outfits for this evening. I wanted the best outfit for Rose. After all, I’m introducing my wife to the world.
“All set for the ceremony. I already sent someone to deliver the outfits.”
“That’s great.”
“Well, I wanted to ask you something, Michael.” I remained silent and she continued.
“Are you sure you want to introduce Rose at an award ceremony? I mean, don’t you think a press conference or releasing a statement in the press will do a better job?”
I expected this question and I exactly knew as to why I want to introduce my wife at an award ceremony.
“My fans are my family. I owe them everything. I’ll be happy to deliver them the news about my marriage myself. I don’t want them to know it through the media or some third-party.” A maid brought two big boxes and I motioned her to place them on the sofa. “Looks like the outfits arrived. I’ll call you later.”
I opened a box to find a red shirt and a black woolen jacket. I wanted to see the outfit designed for Rose but controlled myself. It’ll be great to watch the dress once my Angel wears it. When I entered the room, I saw Rose going through the dresses in her closet.
“What are you doing?” She looked startled before she composed herself and looked away from me. She was busy looking at her feet as they were the most beautiful things in this world.
“Selecting a dress for the evening.”
“I asked Rushika to design one for the evening.” I said while placing the box on the bed. Her eyes traveled to the box before they met mine. It’s been days since she looked me in the eye.
“You didn’t have to. There are many in the closet.”
“Well, you’ll get many chances to wear them in the future.”
“Only for nine more months.” She immediately looked away. At that moment, I wanted to kiss the life out of her and tell her that she’s not going anywhere, not in this lifetime.
“We’ll see. Diana will be here by 4, do I need to ask Rushika to come over?”
“No.”
This damned woman, what is with these short replies. She’s going to be the end of me. I left the room and called Karen, my stylist.
“Karen, I need you to be here by 4.”
[…]
“You're looking great Michael. Now come here, I need to get you ready and go help Diana to get your wife ready.”
“Then go help her. I’m fine. I’ll manage the remaining.”
“I will. But before that, I need you to open your heart.” She looked like a mother asking her kids to spill the beans. “And don’t even think of denying. I know you're worried about something and you know that you can't hide things from me, so spill.”
And it’s the truth. I can't hide anything from Diana and Karen. They can read my mind very easily. They know me very well. Both of them know the truth about my marriage to Rose.
“Rose is avoiding me. She’s ignoring me. The thing is very complicated and I can’t handle it. I know she has feelings for me, but I don’t know why she’s hiding them from me. I just don’t know what to do.”
“It’s great to know that she has feelings for you. But the question is do you love her? Are you sure she’s the right one for you?”
“I love her. I loved her the very first moment I saw her. She’s special. She made me look at things differently, with a brighter perspective. She took away the clouds and brought sunshine into my life. I can't even imagine my life without her. She’s the one. The one I want to spend every day and every night with. The one with whom I want to laugh and cry. The one whom I don’t want to let go at any cost. She’s the one for me, Karen.”
Karen’s eyes filled with tears and she hugged me.
“I was very much afraid about the possibility of you not being able to find a partner for yourself. But I’m happy that you have someone you love so much.” She pulled back and smiled wiping her tears. “Confess your feelings, Mike. Tell her what you feel about her. Tell her how important she is to you and how much you need her in your life. She is probably worried about the contract. But if you tell her about your love, she’ll be able to give your relationship a chance.”
Everything Karen said made sense. Rose’s probably worried over the contract.
“I will. I will confess to her today itself. Thank you, Karen. Thank you so much.”
