I walked side by side with Gabriel and Charmeine toward the clearing, just in time to see Kevin and Archie dragging Ben across the field like a sack of garbage. A thick crowd was already gathering—as if the pack had gotten used to watching public punishment like it was a daily magic show. I could feel the buzz of curiosity, suspicion, and fear swirling around me like gnats. What now? their eyes seemed to ask. I ignored them and kept my gaze forward.
