Mates and Makeovers

1222 Words
It was going to take a few journeys to bring the Blood Crescent Pack back to the pack house. There was only one mini bus which could carry twenty passengers, and at last count there had been around 50 pack members willing to make the move. Jackson and Remi went together on the first trip, while Caleb stayed behind with Laura, ready to welcome his pack to their new, albeit temporary, home. The two arrived, and were met with several of the pack ready and waiting, their humble belongings wrapped in small bundles of cloth. Remi stepped out of the van, his usual gruff demeanour replaced with a happy smile. ‘Our Alpha has found his mate!’ He announced excitedly. Many of the pack cheered, and some of the outliers who had been against the move were intrigued. They had spent their lives without a mate, and never had the opportunity to experience the true love and increase in power that came with finding their mate. They muttered amongst themselves as the first group boarded the minibus, and resolved to surreptitiously follow the bus in their wolf forms to ensure that the members of their pack were safe, but also see if it was true that their Alpha had found his mate. The first group arrived, and were shown to their rooms where they could freshen up and get changed into new clothes for the dinner. The pack members who had followed behind hid amongst the trees, watching the busy scene ahead of them. The sweet smell of lamb roasting on the spit filled their senses and made their mouths water. They could see their Alpha walking around with a woman close to his side. He looked different, younger and brighter and his Alpha aura shone more strongly than usual. One of the she wolves who was hidden, felt a pull towards the grounds. She started to wander closer and the others tried to pull her back. She turned her head back to them and snarled, and without warning raced into the middle of the crowd. People scattered and there were a few screams, and the obvious mistrust taking of over, that perhaps the Blood Crescent Pack might have tricked them to get access to their territory so that they could take it over… The she wolf made a bee line for one of the servers, an Omega who worked at the pack house. She leapt at him and he put his hands up to shield his face and neck, but as they landed on the soft grass she had shifted back to her human form, and her naked body lay on top of his on the ground. They lay frozen for a second, gazing into each other’s eyes, before both smiling broadly and saying in unison: ‘Mate!’ The murmurs in the crowd that had gathered became cheers, and the girl was given a coat to protect her modesty as the Omega led her to a room in the pack house to get cleaned and dressed to join the festivities. The wolves hiding in the trees turned to run back to their pack, and had resolved to take the leap and join Silvermoon at the pack house, once they had reported back what happened and let the last remaining outliers make up their minds with all the information available to them. Jackson had taken a while to lead all of the first group to the perfect rooms for them, so when he went back for the second group, he was surprised to find a much larger group waiting for him. ‘Is it true?’ Asked a young she wolf, stepping forward. ‘Did Skyla find her mate?’ Jackson and Remi nodded, and she excitedly boarded the mini bus. It took four trips, but the entire pack was taken back to Jackson’s pack house, and not a single member opted to stay behind. The prospect of finding their mates was too great to miss out on, and the scouting group’s description of the foot and smell of meat in the air helped matters along too. At the pack house, all of the members had found their rooms and were enjoying the luxury of a hot bath and scented soaps. Each room had a fluffy, white bath robe to wear, and upon arrive they had been shown to a landing where clothes of many styles and sizes had been organised onto rails and shelves for them to choose from. Hannah and her family had been invited to the welcome dinner, and she had taken it upon herself to organise the clothing and assist the pack members with finding the right clothes for themselves. There were hand me downs, clothing bank clothes, and new clothes which some of the Silvermoon pack had graciously bought. They were organised into ladies clothes, girl’s clothes and baby clothes. It wasn’t long until women in bathrobes started swarming the area, and Hannah and Abigail helped them to pick out clothing and underwear. The women were not modest, after years of living as wolves, and were quite happy to strip off their robes and get dressed in the middle of the landing. Hannah and Abigail looked at each other with a little smile. A pretty girl, who looked about the same age as Abigail and Hannah, walked up to them wearing a lovely yellow sun dress. ‘I feel so pretty in this dress!’ She said. ‘Could you please show me how you made your hair look like that? And your face, is that makeup?’ She asked shyly, her wet hair clinging to her head. Hannah was in her element. ‘Let me go and get my tools!’ She said excitedly, leaving Abigail to help everyone herself. Twenty minutes later she arrived back at the pack house landing, carrying what looked like two large luggage bags. Abigail already knew what was happening. The first one was her makeup kit - of course, she had a professional make up artist full kit, because she was Hannah. In the other bag, she had a full kit of straightening and curling irons of different sizes, multiple hair dryers, rollers, brushes, clips, pins… again, a full kit, because she was Hannah, and Hannah equalled extra. ‘Abs, let’s help these girls feel beautiful!’ She said. Abigail groaned, looking at the sheer number of women in front of them. ‘We need backup!’ She said, and quickly called her mother and Serena to come and assist. Hannah called her mother too, as the entire Tate family was well aware of the supernatural world they lived within. Between the five women, they managed to work their way through everyone, some of the young women picking up on what they were doing and learning quickly, enabling them to assist. After hours of work, they stood back and admired their work. Even the children had had their hair neatly done and were feeling beautiful. The Blood Crescent Pack was a beautiful pack, although they were all very thin and undernourished. Abigail could see that she was a part of this pack, as there was a resemblance between her and them, and a feeling of sameness from the times when she hadn’t had enough to eat, and Hannah had helped her too and made her feel beautiful.
