He quickly showered and ate breakfast. He was tempted to look in on Kim, check she was okay, so he peeked through the porthole of the bedroom door. She lay crumpled up under the duvet in the protective foetal position. He thought about the ordeal that she had endured and how it could have been a lot worse. He wondered whether it was worth jeopardising his cover.
