DEAN'S POV:
Everyone is busy here at the hotel. We are expecting some foreign guests to visit us today.
“Make sure everything is okay,” I said.
This time, I really don’t want anything to go wrong, just like what happened the last time we had a special guest. Luckily, my secretary was able to fix the problem.
Everything seems to be okay now. Maybe I can finally get some rest. I haven’t gotten any sleep again, and I’ve also been busy thinking about and overseeing the rooms that I had redesigned. Finally, everything is finished.
When the visitors arrived, they were impressed with our hotel. Since everything was already taken care of, I decided to leave for a while so I could get some rest.
“Dean, is this your house? Huh? It looks like a bar. I thought you were going to rest because you left your office,” Bryan said. He has been my friend since elementary school, so I guess I can call him my best friend.
“Don’t lecture me right now. I’m so tired,” I replied while lying on the couch.
“Okay, bro. Just don’t get yourself drunk,” Bryan said.
This is exhausting, but I can still handle it—for Grandpa and for our business.
JILIAN'S POV:
I wonder where Ichay is. It’s already getting late.
“I’m here!” Ichay said. She’s my best friend.
“Hey, you’re getting home pretty late,” I told her.
“There was traffic. Anyway, I already ate. Did you eat?” Ichay asked.
“I waited for you to eat, and you already ate?” I said.
So I just ate by myself. I had been waiting for her, only to find out she had already eaten.
By the way, Ichay and I live together in an apartment. We grew up in an orphanage. We’re poor, and we don’t have parents, right?
But that doesn’t mean it should stop us from studying and having a better life.
“Wake up. Come on, let’s go,” I said as I woke Ichay up.
Every morning, we go jogging to maintain our fitness and stay healthy.
“Oh, okay. I’m coming. I’m still sleepy,” she said with a yawn while scratching her head.
Hahaha. This has been our everyday routine, but she’s always like this. She still hasn’t gotten used to it. Hahaha.
We started running toward the park. It’s a little far from here, so it’s perfect for our exercise.
“Wait, Ichay. You go ahead. I just have somewhere I need to go,” I said.
My boss, Sir Dean, had texted me. He wanted me to go to his house.
I’m sure it’s important because he wouldn’t text me if it wasn’t. Maybe his allergies are acting up again. Oh God, I hope not.
Wait… am I really going to his house wearing this? I’m dressed for jogging.
O-Okay, it’s fine. Maybe something happened to him.
I hurried over to his house, and when I arrived…
“I need you to shop for me,” Dean said.
“W-What? I… I thought something happened to you, Sir. You called me here just to shop for you? Come on, Sir. I’m not even at work,” I said.
When I arrived, I found him sitting on the sofa watching TV. I rushed over there thinking something terrible had happened to him. Seriously, this boss of mine is way too nice sometimes.
“I don’t care. Come with me. You know that aside from Bryan, I don’t really have any other friends, right?” Dean said.
“Sir, your grandfather’s maid is there to help you. Why didn’t you just let her do it? And now you’re bothering someone else,” I replied.
“Ugh, you talk too much,” Dean said.
Sir Dean is actually a nice person. It’s just that sometimes, he can be a little too demanding.
“Okay, Sir. Can I borrow a jacket?” I asked.
“Sure, here. Oh, and I’m coming with you,” Dean said.
He’s coming with me? He should’ve just gone shopping by himself. He can do it perfectly well. So annoying.
I’ve been working for him for seven years now. I’ve noticed that he really doesn’t have many friends. Actually, it seems like he has a hard time trusting people.
DEAN'S POV:
I’m impressed with Jilian. One text from me, and she immediately came here, but she seemed to be expecting something else when she arrived. But it’s okay. She never changes. She’s always on time.
When we arrived at the mall, we first went to the grocery store.
“Why are you buying so many fruits and vegetables?” I asked.
“Sir, you need these for your health,” Jilian replied.
I feel at ease with Jilian. I don’t know why.
I’m not someone who trusts people easily because of what happened to me when I was young.
There was a married couple whom Mom and Dad trusted. We even treated them like family because they seemed kind and trustworthy. But everything about them turned out to be a lie.
They had criminal cases in different places, and when the police found out that they were staying with us, they immediately arrested them.
Then they fought back and took our family hostage.
I was terrified. At that age, I witnessed my parents being killed right in front of me. That is the only thing I remember clearly.
Grandpa told me that Mom and Dad died because they were trying to save me. The two people who held us hostage also died. They took their own lives after killing my parents.
“Hey, why are you crying?” I asked.
When I looked at her, she was already crying.
“You bastard!” she screamed before suddenly running toward a man and attacking him.
Who is that man with the woman?
Actually, I had noticed them earlier in the parking lot. They were making out.
I walked toward Jilian, who was hitting the man repeatedly while crying.
“That’s enough! I don’t want you anymore! We’re breaking up!” the man shouted.
“After I gave you everything? You’re just going to leave me? You’re going to replace me with that cheap girl? We’ve been together for five years! And you’re just going to throw everything away?” Jilian cried.
“We’re breaking up!” the man shouted again as the woman wrapped her arms around him.
“Ethan, please, let’s talk about this. Don’t leave me,” Jilian begged.
Why was Jilian begging that jerk? She was the one who had been hurt, yet she was still begging him not to leave her.
People were already staring at them.
I grabbed Jilian by the arm.
“Jilian, don’t waste your time on a man like that!” I shouted as I pulled her away from the couple and the crowd surrounding them.
I can’t believe Jilian could do something that foolish to someone as worthless as that man.
She’s smart, but after what happened just now, I’m starting to wonder.
