Alison's pov My face was still inches above Noah's, my breath caught in my throat as I stared at him, unable to look away. His peaceful expression, the gentle rise and fall of his chest—it was mesmerizing. Just as I was about to pull myself together and move, Noah's mobile started ringing loudly, shattering the quiet. My eyes widened in panic. The sudden noise made Noah stir, and in my haste to retract and hide my reddening face, I turned too quickly. The bed, already small and cramped, offered no grace. With a twist and a flail, I ended up rolling right off the edge, duvet and all, and tumbled face-first onto the floor. “Oomph!” I hit the ground with an undignified thud, the duvet wrapping around me in a tangled mess.
