"What is a mana ring?" Alaric mumbled, and Gaius, who was standing by the large carriage, heard him. Gaius smiled and led him to the back of the carriage, where it was more spacious, with a table across it.
Seeing him leave, Caspian tagged along, already seeing him as a friend he could stick to. As they sat down, Gaius stood by their table and began to explain.
"Mana rings are created around the mana source when a mage levels up. For instance, your friend here has one man's ring, which shows he is a Tier 1 mage; when he gets to Tier 2, he will have two rings, and so on."
