Despite the fact that I had desperately wanted to, I didn’t go after her when she left. I could understand her reason for doing so, just as I had needed space last night, although she hadn’t been as considerate as I was. I also knew that it was only a matter of time before I found myself in her company again, and we would be bound to continue with this argument of ours. I wasn’t looking forward to it, but that didn’t mean that I didn’t want to get it done. I wanted to return to the palace and be able to hold a civil conversation with her, without the worry of upsetting her.
Was that too much to ask for?
