As I woke up not realizing I had fallen asleep before reading Aspen last text. I felt around my bed trying to locate my phone that was somewhere in there. As I felt around I heard a ping under my head. My phone must have been in my hand when I put my hand under my pillow to sleep.

I flipped my pillow over as I sat up and grabbed my phone. I noticed I had two messages one from Aspen and another from Raven asking where I was at. I looked at the time on my phone and noticed it was 9:30 in the morning. I had slept through my morning training session. I knew I was in big trouble with my Dad.

I ran to my closet and grabbed my yoga pants and threw them on. I reached up onto my shelf and grabbed a sports bra and pulled it over my head and in its place. Pulling on my sneakers as I raced to the door to run down stairs. When I came to the lounge everyone was standing there waiting for me.

I looked at Raven confused to what was going on. Then I saw my parents standing in the front of the room. I walked through the room and stood next to my mother. She hugged me tightly. She turned to my father. He lifted his hands to have everyone sit down and quiet down. Then he started “Everyone we have the most exciting new. You all know that Aura turns 18 next Saturday. To celebrate this we are going to throwing a big party. To help us celebrate the clan leaders of the five other clans and their sons have made the journey here to present their sons to Aura in hopes of her claiming one has her mate. So please welcome the guests and treat them with respect and kindness.” Everyone was clapping and cheering with excitement. I on the other hand was in shock. Why would my parents do this? Did they really expect me to pick a guy that I didn’t know and had no connection with?

I turned to look at my mother with straight face. “I thought this was my birthday party.”

She looked taken back by the fact I was not happy with what I just learned. “Aura sweetie, this is for your future. I thought you would be excited to meet the other clan leaders. It was a surprise for you.” She said with a half smile. It was a big surprise for sure but not a good one in my eyes. I did want to meet the other clan leaders. Just in a different setting. I wanted to make it clear I would make vampires and all other creatures work together. That was my dream from when I was little.

I was told of times when all creatures ran together and none of them were at war with the other. I wanted that time to bless us again.

I had read every book in the library we had of other species. Which was not many, ten books total. They didn’t go into too much depth tho. I would have to get each clan leader on board so we could start going to other kinds and make a truce and alliance.

I knew I wasn’t going to win an argument with my partner because they never listened to me. I walked out of the room and head to gym to train. I needed to clear my head. As I walked out of the room I pulled my phone out and looked at Aspen text.

“Yes I will be the next king and I believe I am ready for it I have been trained to take over since I was born but I do want my pack to accept your clan so we can grow together and become one. Also would you try my blood?” I read and was kinda shocked. He was going to be king and he was my mate. This would help my alliance I dreamed of. The last part caught me off guard though. To feed off him would be something no vampire a live has ever done but the books say it gives us more strength and speed and sometimes can unlock special abilities in the vampire.

I wanted to know if it was true or false. So I was willing to feed off of him, but he needed to know how intimate that feeding off of a living person was for a vampire. Most vampires I knew only fed on blood that was donated or on their mate during s*x.

I knew that werewolves marked their mates by biting them and we did as well. It was something that was very special to vampires.

“I would love to feed of you, but I must tell you why. It has been said that wolf blood could unlock special abilities in a vampire if the had any. Also it strengthens us and makes us faster. But for me to bite and feed off of you it means I would be marking you.” I hit send and continued on my way to the gym to work out my frustration.

When I entered the gym Raven came in behind me looking confused. “Why are you so upset with having to choose a mate?” She all but yelled at me.

“I don’t know any of them and I don’t want any of them as my mate I want something more. Something different out of my life. You wouldn’t understand it.” I said pushing past her to get to the bench press.

“How could you want something different or more they are the clan leaders that want to bring clans together. It would make the clan bigger.” She sounded like my father and mother at this point. It was so annoying. It was also hard for me to not tell her I had a mate and I wanted him and not anyone else.

“Do you think a vampire could be mated to another species?” I asked curiously, wondering what her answer might be.

She looked up in surprise and thought really hard before answering “I don’t see why not but I don’t think any one would approve of them being together.” And there it was the disapproval I was afraid of. I thought she might be a little bit more open minded about it.
