Aura
Oh my God! I had 30 minutes till my date and I had no idea what i was going to wear. My makeup isn’t done, my red hair was a mess. I didn’t have time for a shower after everything I just wanted to get out of the house.
In case you are wondering what is going on, I’m getting ready for my date. Well suppose to be finishing up by now for my date with Aspen. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I thought about saying no to him at first, but I deserved to be happy and be with my mate. I couldn’t let my emotions of us being of different kinds get in the way.
As I rummaged through my closet and tossed dress after dress after dress on the floor, I was close to giving up. Vampires couldn’t go out and buy new clothes for a date like everyone else could. We had to order everything online and hope it made it in time. I knew I didn’t have the time to even look for something new. All my clothes just wouldn’t cut it. This was my first official date.
In a time like this I wish I could go to my best friend for help. Raven would have helped me, but I couldn't tell her why I was so nervous or what I was getting ready for. Which Raven would have asked so many questions.
“Need any help?”
I looked up to see my mother standing in the doorway to my room with a hopeful look. I started to feel guilty because I couldn't tell her I was getting ready for a date she wouldn’t approve of. Plus she wants me to pick one of the sons of the other clans.
“Sure Momma.” I said softly. Her footsteps got closer as she made her way closer to me and my closet.
“How about this?” she said holding up a beautiful emerald green strapless dress. I hadn't noticed she had anything in her hands when she was at the door of my room. I stared at the dress in shock. When did my mother buy this dress? I took it from my mother’s hands and ran my hands down the soft fabric.
“It’s perfect.” I said. I really was it was heart shaped around the breast and tight around the hips so it would show off all my curves in the right way.
My mother smiled a little and grabbed my shoulders and hugged me. Then proceeded to leave my room.
“Thanks Momma. I love you.”
She smiled at me and nodded as she exited my room. I now had something to wear tonight. My mother knew that emerald green was my color. No one in the clan could pull off the color like I could. I was super excited to put the dress on. I quickly striped out of my gym clothes and pulled on the dress.
I knew I was not going to be able to do my hair like Raven could so I brushed it out and pulled it up in a ponytail. It was simple but looked nice. I quickly put on my lip gloss and looked in the mirror. I was happy with my look. The dress made my legs look longer. I decided on my black strap high heels. I was finally ready.
I made my way down stairs and saw all the sons of the other clans standing in the lounge room with my parents. I should have known that my mother had this planned out. I smiled politely as I entered the room. I looked at my mother and gave her a straight smile. I turned and headed for the door. In that moment I was pissed off how could my parents ambush me with this.
“Aura come back here.” My mother said in a tone that made me know she was not happy with my actions. I turned and walked back.
“Mother you decided to invite these gentlemen here I didnt so you can show them around. I on the other hand am going out every night they are here and will only talk to them at my party.” I smiled and turned and exited the castle as quickly as I could. I knew my mother was going to be mad at me but I was not going to miss my date. I quickly looked at my phone and knew I had five minutes till we were supposed to meet at the fall tree from the night before.
I quickly opened my phone to text Aspen I was on my way. I heard the front door open behind me and saw my mother coming down the steps to me.
“What do you want mother?” I asked moving my hand to my hips to show I wasn’t impressed.
“Aura sweetie why must you be so stubborn? Can’t you work with me here. This is for your future. One of those men is going to be your husband.” She said in a low tone trying to hide her frustration towards me.
“Mother I am not choosing a husband. The Moon Goddess will give me one and I will be with him.” I stated with confidence.
“You can’t just be with anyone sweetie you are the next clan leader. If you choose a mate before you meet your fated mate then you will not get a fated mate. Your father and I were not fated and we still love each other very much.” She was trying to convince me that it was normal and I should be like them and settle for the life they had.
“No i don’t want to be with someone that isn’t meant for me in the first place.” I knew she wouldn’t understand and I had a date to get to so I sprinted off as fast I could jumping through trees and making my way down the mountain to the club parking lot. I sighed in relief as soon as I saw the big neon sign and walked across the parking lot to the corner where the fallen tree was I was going to sit down and wait for him to show up.
