Time went by slowly. Cassie was starting to get the hang of her job, although she still spent most of the time answering the phone and taking messages for Iris and James. When she wasn’t doing that, she was dealing with personal affairs more than anything – talking to the solicitor, therapist, bank, her old employer, Social Welfare, Rob. Kyle was a lot less excited than Cassie and even Ciara when Cassie announced that Rob was coming over for a weekend in early February.
It was one afternoon that he descended the stairs to the kitchen to have some lunch that he heard Ciara crying in the sitting room. When she noticed him in the sitting room doorway, she quickly wiped her eyes and pretended to be all right.
He moved into the room and sat down next to her on the two-seater.
