CHAPTER 13 He was up at eight o’clock on Christmas morning. He thought he would be the first one of them up – he had heard noises from both girls’ rooms late in to the night, signifying that they had all been up late – and so was surprised to find Cassie in the kitchen, making rich-smelling coffee and scones. “Good morning,” she said with a huge smile.
