CHAPTER 3 He had a restless night that night. Cassie had told them later in the evening that they would have to go to see the solicitor in the morning, all of them. He hadn’t thought it had affected his nerves, but he had been wrong. He dreamt that he was sitting in the backseat of a car. He didn’t know who was driving, either there was nobody there or he just couldn’t see their faces. The road was wet and slippery, and there was sharp bend after sharp bend, and at every bend, very close to the road, was a big rock. It seemed to come closer at each turn, and the car wasn’t slowing down. He woke up drenched in sweat.
