Chapter 1 - Broken Promises.

Set Five Years Ago...

"Mi reina, do you wanna take a walk with me?" (My queen)

"Now? what about my party?"

I ask Javier.

I really didn't wanna leave my party but seeing the look on my handsome mate's face is making me wanna agree with him.

"Adrianna, please"

Javier closes his eyes and begs me dramatically.

He then opened his eyes and I instantly melted as I looked into his crystal blue eyes.

"I've shared you all day with your entire family and MC...can I please just have five minutes alone with my baby?"

Javier closed the space between us and wrapped his arms around my waist.

I placed my hands on his hard chest while keeping my eyes connected with his.

"I'll give you ten minutes if you flash me that beautiful smile of yours, fifteen if you give me a kiss"

I say with a smile.

Javier couldn't resist smiling back at me showing off all of his pearly whites, he then leaned in and brushed his lips against mine.

"You drive a hard bargain, mi pequeña esposa" (My little wifey)

Fuck.

I love it when he speaks Spanish to me, it's so freaking sexy.

Javier gently and very passionately kisses my lips, nibbling my lower lip like he always does to ask for permission to in his words 'tongue f**k' me.

His tongue invaded my mouth and just like it's owner, it dominated our kiss and showed me who's in charge.

As always, our kiss didn't last long because we're currently surrounded by all of the males in my family including my dad, my older brothers, my uncles, my cousins and worst of all my two grandpas Johnny and Lucifer who would happily tear Javier a new one if they caught us kissing.

My grandpa Lucifer still growls and grunts whenever he sees my parents kiss and refuses to stop doing it even after receiving numerous warnings from my grandma Crystal, so you can imagine what he's like when he sees his one and only granddaughter kissing her mate, trust me, it's not a pretty sight.

"Come on, baby, I've got something I wanna show you"

Javier grabs my hand and leads me out of the clubhouse.

He was about to help me into his truck when we were stopped by my older brothers Hunter and Asher.

"Where the hell are you two going?"

"Yeah, we're are you taking our baby sister, Reyes?"

Holy moon goddess, you could've given these two brains along with their good looks and muscles.

I thought to myself while rolling my eyes.

"Don't worry boys, I'm not taking her too far away from here...yet"

Javier muttered the last part under his breath and I chuckled.

"You shouldn't be taking her anywhere, she's only sixteen"

Asher growled and I groaned in annoyance.

They always do this.

"Jesus Christ Asher, you're acting like we're gonna go and f**k in the woods or something"

"Language, Adrianna"

Hunter scolded me and I dropped my head.

I hate it when he shouts at me.

Javier wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him as he caressed my bare waist with his thumb.

"Guys relax ok, I'm just taking her to the cliff for a few minutes alone together, that's all"

"Do our parents know about this?"

Asher asks all smug and Javier sighed as he muttered for f***s sake under his breath.

"Yes they do know, Ash, why don't you go and ask them"

"There's no need for that, if you say our parents know then that's confirmation enough, just look after her Javier, we won't be happy if she comes back harmed"

"She's my mate, Hunter, do you really think I'm gonna allow any harm to come her way?"

Javier said with a slight growl.

I could feel his anger growing through our bond so I jumped in to stop a potential brawl from happening.

"Hunter, can you please let this go? it's my birthday and I want to spend some time alone with my mate"

My brothers were silent for around thirty or forty seconds before they looked at each other like they were in a mind-link.

They then looked back at me, Asher was clearly annoyed and Hunter looked like his usual stoic self.

"Ok fine but no funny stuff, ok"

Whatever hypocrite.

"I heard that"

Hunter growled and I smiled at him.

My brothers may annoy me with how over-protective they are with me but I still love them very much and I appreciate how much they care for me.

Javier and I get inside his truck and we leave for the cliff which is about ten minutes away from our clubhouse.

When we got there, I got out of the truck with a little help from Javier and I was blown away by the view from here.

The sky is pitch black with a sprinkling of sparkling stars with a big white moon and down below are the lights from the city.

"Come here, babe"

Javier offers me his hand and he helps me to sit on his truck and makes sure I'm safe and ok before getting on it himself.

He sits down with me in between his legs, his arms are wrapped around my waist and his face is nuzzled deep into my neck.

"I'm gonna miss this place when I turn eighteen"

"Don't worry, babe, we'll visit whenever we can"

Javier says and I let out a shaky breath.

"I know"

It's gonna be bittersweet when I have to leave here because I'll be leaving to be with my mate who I love so much but I'll also be leaving behind everyone I love and care about in South Dakota.

Javier and I sat in a comfortable silence just enjoying the beautiful view as well as each other's company.

I don't know how long we had been here for and in all honesty, I didn't care because I was with my mate and that's all that I cared about.

All of a sudden, Javier unwrapped his arms from around me and jumped down from his truck so that he could stand in front of me, in between my legs.

He looked me deep in my eyes as he gently caressed my outer thighs with his hands which is something he always does but for some reason, I didn't like it this time and I can't explain why.

"Is everything ok, Javier?"

"Everything's fine, baby"

He says as he reaches for something in his pocket.

"Happy birthday, mi reina"

Javier opens up the small box revealing a beautiful diamond heart ring.

"Oh my god...Javier..."

"It's not an engagement ring but it's a promise that I'll one day replace this ring with an engagement and wedding band set"

"It's a promise ring?"

I ask with a smile and he nods his head.

"It's a ring that holds so many promises, my love, a promise that I'll one day make you my wife and the mother of our children, a promise that I'll one day make you my Luna queen, a promise that I'll love you and only you forever until the day I die, a promise...that no matter what Adrianna, you will always be mine and I will always be yours...It's going to be Addy and Javvy, always and forever"

Javier says as he slips the beautiful ring onto my wedding finger.

"I also want to give you this, babe"

He says as he takes off his prized skull with a crown ring which is a one-of-a-kind, custom-made ring that represents his club, the Demenios Reyes MC.

"Javier, why are you giving me this?"

I ask as he slips it onto my index finger and it fits perfectly which is weird considering my fingers are thinner than his.

"Because I want you to have something to always remember me by, Addy"

"Why? where are you going?"

My head snapped up and my heart started to race as I looked at Javier with a panicked expression.

"I'm not going anywhere, baby"

Javier cupped my face and rested his forehead against mine.

"I promise you, mi princesa, I'm always going to be here with you, I love you so much, Adrianna McCarthy"

"I love you too, Javier"

Javier kissed my lips which I happily accepted but for some strange reason, I had this horrible feeling deep in my gut that was telling me this was going to be our last time together.

Little did I know at the time that my gut feeling was right.

This would be our last time together and Javier would break a promise to me which he said he never would.

He left me.
