The vessel powered away from the burning shipyard into the dark waters. James slumped to the side, applying a cloth on his bleeding shoulder, breathing in unsteady gasps. Sarah crouched next to him, her hands trembling as she attempted to evaluate the injury. “You’re losing too much blood,” she said, worry tinged in her voice. “I’ll live,” James mumbled, grimacing as Nathan navigated the boat past the choppy waves. His adrenaline still coursed through him, but he knew it wasn’t safe yet. The Syndicate wasn’t going to let them run away so easily. Nathan looked over his shoulder, eyes on the horizon. “We’ve gotta get off the water before they send more after us.” Sarah nodded. “There’s a small fishing village, a few miles up ahead. “If we can get there, we might be able to hide out.” J
