James could see the spark of recognition in the others’ eyes, a collective uncertainty as the name echoed in their minds.
“Alexei Petrov?” Hassan’s whisper was crisp and dry. “The name doesn’t sound familiar. Who is he?”
Novak’s eyes turned to him, assessing. “Petrov is a spirit in this world. He is part of an unseen world, managing puppets and armies unseen, directing forces without being seen himself. He’s not in the Syndicate himself, but the whole organization was designed with him in mind. He’s the master of all of it the one who’s been pulling the strings behind the scenes all along.”
Lina squinted
