THREAD OF FATE CHAPTER 6 Liza walked back into the applicant waiting room, her confidence restored thanks to the stunning outfit she had been given. She took her seat, smoothing out the wrinkles in the dress as she waited for her name to be called. As the minutes ticked by, Liza's nerves began to settle. She took a few deep breaths, reminding herself that she was qualified for this job and that she had prepared well for the interview. Finally, the moment of truth arrived. "Liza Smith?" a voice called out. Liza's heart skipped a beat as she stood up, her eyes scanning the room for the person who had called her name. She spotted a woman with a friendly smile and followed her out of the waiting room. As they walked down the corridor, Liza's mind began to wander. What would the interview be like? Would she be able to answer all the questions confidently? The woman stopped in front of a door and turned to Liza. "This is it," she said. "Good luck." Liza took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and stepped inside. She was immediately struck by the sheer number of people sitting across from her. There were seven interviewers in total, each with a stern expression on their face. Liza's eyes scanned the room, searching for a friendly face. That's when she saw him - the man who had spilled coffee all over her clothes earlier. He was sitting at the far end of the table, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. Liza's heart sank as their eyes met. She felt a wave of panic wash over her, remembering the way she had spoken to him earlier. Who was he, anyway? Was he one of the bosses here? Tylor, sensing Liza's discomfort, decided to break the ice. "You look good in that dress," he said, his voice smooth as silk. Liza's face flushed as she stuttered out a thank you. She couldn't believe that this man, who had ruined her clothes earlier, was now sitting across from her, interviewing her for a job. The interview itself was a blur. Liza answered question after question, trying to showcase her skills and passion for fashion. She submitted her sketchbook, watching anxiously as the interviewers flipped through the pages. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the interview came to an end. "Thank you, Liza," one of the interviewers said. "We'll be in touch soon." Liza left the interview room feeling hopeful. She had done her best, and now all she could do was wait. As she walked out of the building, Liza couldn't help but think about the man who had spilled coffee all over her clothes. Who was he, really? And why did she get the feeling that their paths would cross again soon? She pushed the thoughts aside and headed to Helena's workplace, eager to share every detail of her interview with her best friend. Helena was overjoyed to see Liza, jumping up from her seat to envelop her in a tight hug. "How did it go?" she asked, her eyes shining with excitement. Liza took a deep breath, launching into a detailed account of her interview. She told Helena everything, from the coffee incident to the interview itself. Helena listened, entranced, her eyes growing wider with each passing minute. "Wow, that's quite a story," she said when Liza finally finished. Liza grinned, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "I know, right?" she said. "I'm just glad it's over. Now all I can do is wait and see what happens." Helena nodded, her expression serious. "You'll get the job, Liza. I just know it. You're talented, smart, and passionate about fashion. What more could they want?" Liza smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude toward her best friend. "Thanks, Helena. Just talking to you makes me feel better." The two friends chatted for a while longer, discussing everything from fashion to music to their favorite TV shows. Finally, it was time for Liza to head home. As she walked out of the coffee shop, Liza felt a sense of hope that she hadn't felt in a long time. She knew that she had done her best, and now all she could do was wait and see what the future held.
