THREAD OF FATE
CHAPTER 7
Sonia Patel's eyes sparkled with excitement as she gazed out the airplane window, watching the majestic landscape of the United States unfold before her eyes. She couldn't believe it had been nine long years since she'd left this beautiful country behind, relocating to Spain with her mother, Shasha.
As the plane touched down on American soil, Sonia felt a rush of nostalgia wash over her. She had missed the vibrant energy of the States, the diverse cultures, and the endless possibilities that seemed to lurk around every corner.
Shasha, Sonia's mother, smiled warmly as she reached for her daughter's hand. "We're finally home, beta," she said, using the affectionate Hindi term for "child."
Sonia's eyes locked onto her mother's, and for a fleeting moment, she saw a glimmer of concern etched on Shasha's face. Sonia knew that her mother was worried about one thing - crossing paths with her ex-husband, Justin.
Shasha had parted ways with Justin when Sonia was just 19 years old. The memories of their tumultuous relationship still lingered, and Shasha couldn't help but feel anxious about the possibility of running into Justin again.
As they made their way through customs and baggage claim, Sonia's thoughts drifted back to their life in Spain. She had studied fashion in the vibrant city of Barcelona, honing her skills in some of the top fashion companies in the country.
But despite her polished exterior, Sonia's mind was a complex web of manipulation and deceit. She had learned from her mother, Shasha, who would stop at nothing to ensure her daughter's success, even if it meant hurting others in the process.
Their past was marred by secrets and scandals, the memories of which Sonia had tried to keep buried. But as they settled into their opulent new home, a grand mansion that Shasha had purchased before their return to the States, Sonia couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and trepidation.
Shasha, sensing her daughter's unease, placed a reassuring hand on Sonia's shoulder. "We'll start anew here, beta," she said, her voice dripping with determination. "We'll leave our past behind and forge a brighter future."
Sonia smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude toward her mother. She knew that Shasha had worked tirelessly to provide for her, and she was determined to make her mother proud.
As they stepped into their lavish new home, Sonia couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them. Would they be able to leave their past behind and start anew, or would the secrets and scandals of their past come back to haunt them?
