THREAD OF FATE CHAPTER 23 Tylor stepped into his house, greeted by the warm glow of the living room. His family was gathered there, their faces lit up by the soft light. He exchanged warm smiles with his loved ones, feeling a sense of comfort and belonging. His junior sister, Daniella, was the first to speak up. "Tylor, you're so late! What kept you?" she asked, her brow furrowed with concern. Tylor chuckled, ruffling Daniella's hair. "Just work, kiddo. His grandmother, a wise and kind woman with a quick wit, beckoned him over. "Come sit down, Tylor. Tell me something." Tylor settled into the plush couch, feeling the soft cushions envelop him. His grandmother's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she asked, "What's going on at the office? Your father was just telling me about some trouble with that young lady, Liza." Tylor's expression turned serious. "It's a long story, Grandma. But I can tell you that Liza is innocent. Those designs were hers, and I know she didn't steal them." His grandmother nodded, her eyes never leaving his face. "I believe you, Tylor. Liza seems like a trustworthy person. I met her briefly, and she struck me as kind and genuine." Tylor's mother, a stylish woman with a sharp tongue, cut in. "Tylor, I thought Sonia was your friend. You've known her for years. How can you be so sure that Liza is innocent?" Tylor took a deep breath, choosing his words carefully. "Sonia slapped Liza a few days ago, Mom. Just because Liza refused to run an errand for her. Liza didn't do anything about it, but it tells me a lot about Sonia's character." The room fell silent, with all eyes on Tylor. His grandmother was the first to speak up, her voice firm. "That's unacceptable behavior, Sonia or not. Cole, find out what's going on and who's behind this. I want to know the truth." Tylor's father, nodded in agreement. "We'll get to the bottom of this, Tylor. Don't worry." Just then, Tylor's father spoke up. "Tylor, don't forget about your blind date tomorrow. Benita Travis is a lovely woman, and I think you two would hit it off." Tylor's face darkened, his jaw clenched in annoyance. "Dad, I've already told you. I'm not interested in blind dates or arranged marriages. I have someone I like, and that's all that matters." His mother's eyes narrowed, her voice sharp. "Who is this person, Tylor? What's their family like? Are they a well-known family?" Tylor's face grew hotter, his anger simmering just below the surface. "When the time is right, you'll meet her. But for now, just drop it. I'm not going on that blind date, and that's final." With that, Tylor stormed out of the room, leaving his family staring after him in surprise. In the quiet of his bedroom, Tylor pulled out his phone and checked for any missed calls. His eyes narrowed as he saw Sonia's name on the screen. He returned her call, his voice neutral. Sonia's voice was bright and cheerful on the other end of the line. "Hey, Tylor! I've been trying to reach you all day." Tylor's eyes rolled heavenward. "Sorry, Sonia. I was busy helping Liza with her new design." There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, Tylor wondered if Sonia had hung up on him. But then, Sonia's voice came back on, her tone light. "You're always hanging out with Liza now, forgetting about me. Your first friend." Tylor's expression softened. "That's not true, Sonia. You're still my friend." Sonia's voice was saccharine sweet. "I just called to say hi, Tylor. Good night." As Tylor ended the call, he couldn't shake off the feeling that Sonia was hiding something. She hadn't mentioned the incident at work, and that seemed suspicious. Tylor's eyes narrowed, his mind racing. What was Sonia's game? And why was she being so secretive? With a sigh, Tylor tossed his phone aside and lay back on his bed, his mind whirling with questions and doubts.
