Chapter 11

Viper As Lacey pulls the car into the garage, I watch as she nervously turns off the car and shakily takes her keys from the ignition. Following her into the house, I stay close, not able to be far from her. Walking into the lounge room, Lacey sits on the plush couch as I take up the space next to her, getting comfortable as I do. " What did you want to talk about?" Lacey asks nervously. Shifting slightly so that I can face her properly, I move my arm so that it rests behind her on the top of the couch. " Lacey, yesterday I found out I have a daughter. One that is almost ten years old, and her mother just so happens to be the girl that has tormented my dreams for the same amount of time and you didn't think I'd want to come here and talk to you about everything?" I growl out in a mixture of want and frustration. " I....I didn't know you thought about me after I left. I'm sorry." She whispers, shakily. Sliding my finger across her jaw, I lift her chin up till we are looking into each other's eyes. " Stop apologising, Lacey. What's done is done. As far as I am concerned, we can't change the past, but we can sure as hell change the future." I say as I stare deep into those hazel orbs. " What do you mean? Like us telling Cassidy you are her father? I want you to be very sure before we do because I can't risk her getting hurt from my mistakes." Lacey says as if there is a chance I would leave them. I sat silently for a moment, annoyed that she still thought there was any chance I didn't want them in my life. I could see the worry building on her features as she sat waiting for me to say something. " Lacey, I don't think you get it. The moment I saw you all those years ago sitting on the ground in that park with tears streaming down your face, I knew you were mine. You see, that day when I stopped riding and came over to check on you, I knew you were it. Don't think that you being gone changed that. You are mine, Lacey. You and Cassidy are my family, and I will spend every waking moment making sure that you are both loved and cared for because you both deserve to be." I rasp as I feel all my bottled emotions rising to the top. Silent tears fall down her cheeks as she takes in my admission. I don't care if I have to say it one million times over until she understands that I am not going anywhere. " But I don't understand. When you say I'm yours, what do you mean?" She asks with an adorable, confused look. " I mean, you are my woman. I've had to go so long without you, and now that you are back, I'm not letting you out of my sight. I want Cass to know who I am and be there for you both. There is no chance in hell I'll let another man play happy families with you while I sit back and watch." I say as the sudden thought of another man touching Lacey rages within me. " Lacey, I need to ask you something, and I want you to be completely honest with me right now, for my own sanity. Have you dated much since you went away?" I ask, dreading the answer, but at the same time, knowing I needed the answer to stop my imagination running wild. I watch as Lacey shifts uncomfortably in her seat, nervousness plastered across her face. " Please don't judge me, Nate. This is kind of embarrassing, but I haven't dated anyone since I left. I was so focused on raising Cassidy that I never went out or socialised outside of work." Her cheeks turn a deep crimson colour as she quickly casts her gaze down at her lap. Relief floods through me as I take in what she is saying, I know it's hypocritical seeing as I have had my share of one night stands, but never more than that. I've had club girls try, wanting to be my old lady, but that was never going to happen, and I made sure they all knew that. " So you've never slept with another guy?" I ask, more curious than anything now. Lacey shakes her head slowly as she refuses to look up from her lap. I can't hold back the smile that creeps across my face. " See, even you knew you were mine." Snapping her head up suddenly, Lacey gives me an unreadable expression. " So, you want us to be together? Like a couple? What if I'm too different after all this time and not what you were hoping for? What if I....I'm not good enough?" She questions, more to herself than me. The panic is now evident in her as I reach over, circling my arms around her waist and pulling her so that she is straddling my legs. " You are perfect for me just the way you are. I can't explain it, but the first time I ever layed eyes on you, I knew it was forever, no matter how long we have been apart. Now, I need you to stop asking pointless questions and kiss me, Kitten." I don't let her think as I wrap my hand around the back of her neck and pull her in, our lips crashing together as fire ignites in my veins. Our tongues battle for dominance as my hands begin to roam her body, stroking my calloused fingers up and down her back. Eventually, Lacey pulls away slightly, giving us both a chance to catch our breath. Gazing into her eyes, I feel a sense of calm wash over me that I haven't felt in years. Unfortunately, the feeling doesn't last long as my phone starts going off in my pocket. I try to ignore it, but after it's rung out twice and starts to ring again, I know something must be up. Pulling out the phone, I see Blades name flashing across the screen. " Sh*t. Give me a minute, Kitten. I've got to get this." I say as I place her back down next to me on the couch before standing and heading into the kitchen. Swiping the screen, I lift the phone to my ear just as Blade starts to talk. " Sorry Viper, you know I wouldn't call unless it was important." My best friend says. " But, we have a lead on who attacked Chaos. One of the nearby shop cameras caught the attack on tape. The guys were wearing Hells serpents patches." " F*ck!" I curse as Blade tells me who was behind the attack. The Hells serpents were a gang from a few towns over, and those guys were as bad as they came. While we tried to uphold some rules and only deal in certain illegal activities, they did everything from dr*g smuggling right through to human tr*fficking. We always avoided each other's territory, so them doing this was unnerving, to say the least. " Call everyone in for a meeting. I'll be there in twenty." I barked through the phone before ending the call. Heading back through to the lounge room, I find Lacey right where I had left her. I hate the idea of leaving her right now, but if I don't get this under control, it could put the whole town in danger, including my girls. "Is everything alright?" She asks, looking up at me with concern. Leaning down, I plant a gentle kiss on her lips. " Everything is fine, Kitten. Blade just needs a hand back at the clubhouse. It shouldn't take too long, so how about I bring dinner over later and we can celebrate Cassidys' first day together." I say, making my way to the front door before she has a chance to say no.
