CHAPTER NINE Ashley and Daniel arrived at the diner during one of the least busy times. The breakfast crowd had mostly cleared out and the lunch crowd had not yet started rolling in. The official name of the local hangout was Mettler Ridge’s Finest Diner, evidenced by the red and yellow neon sign out front. The slogan was true, purely because of the fact it was the only establishment of its kind in town. But the name didn’t really matter as the locals all simply referred to the joint as The Diner, and nothing more. Sarah had worked as a server here for the last four years.
