CHAPTER SIXTEEN The first light of dawn broke through the c***k above the cardboard panel that covered the RV’s window, stinging Violet’s tear-swollen eyes. She’d fought hard during the night. Her wrists burned where the plastic zip ties had cut into her flesh and her jaw throbbed from the backhanded blow she’d received. She licked her parched lips. At least her gag had been removed—cut from her face with the hunting knife. But screaming had failed to help her. Her captor had explained that they were parked miles from civilization.
