Leticia broke the silence, her voice barely above a whisper. “Jade, I had no idea you were engaged. I'm happy for you, truly.”Jade's response was measured, “Thank you, Leticia. I care about Lia deeply”.The air was thick with unspoken tension. Leticia's eye seem to bore into Jade's soul, searching for answers. Jade's gaze faltered, and he looked away, unsure of how to navigate the conversation.Leticia's presence stirred up memories Jade thought he'd long buried. He felt torn between his commitment to me and the rekindled feelings for Leticia. The past and present collided. Leaving Jade uncertain about his future.As Jade left the café, he felt unsettled. His meeting with Leticia raised more questions than answers. He wondered what the future held for him, me and Leticia. Jade began to probe about who told Leticia about his engagement and where she had been all the while.It was revealed that Leticia's best friend, Merissa, had attended the engagement party and informed Leticia about Jade's proposal to me. Merissa had thought Leticia knew and was just being supportive, but she didn't. Leticia was taken back, feeling like she had been punched in the gut. She had thought she and Jade still had a connection, and the news of his engagement shook her to her core.When Leticia confronted Merissa, her friend apologized profusely, explaining she had no idea Leticia was still in love with Jade. Merissa promised to support Leticia through her tough times.Leticia decided to reach out to Jade, seeking closure and more answers. She wanted to know if Jade truly loved me or if he was just settling into a comfortable relationship.Since Jade left the café meeting with Leticia, he had been wondering what prompted Leticia's disappearance for several years.Leticia had disappeared without warning, leaving Jade heartbroken and her sudden absence left a gaping hole in his life.Jade had searched for her everywhere but she was nowhere to be found. He had asked her friends, checked her favourite places, and even involved the authorities, but there was no trace of her.The years that followed were tough on Jade. He felt lost, alone, and heartbroken. He had given up hope of ever finding Leticia or rebuilding their relationship.Jade had eventually found closure by focusing on his relationship with me. He had thought he was over Leticia, but her reappearance brought back all the memories and emotions he thought he had left behind.Leticia’s disappearance and reappearance raised many questions within Jade. “Why had she left? Where had she been all these years? And what did she want now” Jade pondered.His feelings were in turmoil. He was torn between his love for me and the rekindled emotions for Leticia. He didn't know what the future held or how to navigate the complex situation.As Jade was lost in thought, he got a text message that narrated what prompted Leticia's disappearance.The text read that Leticia had travelled to a Coastal Town for her friend’s wedding, five years ago. The scenic beauty of the Sea and the relaxed atmosphere had drawn her to the Beach.While walking along the shore, Leticia had gotten too close to the edge and was swept away by a powerful wave. She was dragged under water, struggling to swim back to the surface.Fortunately, some Beach goers had witnessed the incident and rushed to her aid. They managed to pull her out of the water, but she had suffered a severe head injury and was in a coma for several weeks.When she revived from her coma, she had developed retrograde amnesia, unable to recall her past, including her relationship with Jade. She had been recovering in a hospital, trying to piece together her life.During her recovery, Leticia had started rebuilding her Life creating a new identity for herself. She had distanced herself from her past, unsure of who she was or where she belonged to.Years later, Leticia had regained some of her memories, and her past had started coming back to her.She had returned to her hometown, determined to reconnect with her past and the people she loved including Jade.Leticia's reunion with Jade was bitter sweet. She was torn between her feelings for him and the life she had built without him.Jade was in tears, while reading the text, little did he know that I was at his back witnessing every of his reactions.As soon as I observed his feelings, I quickly left, not letting him know that I saw everything.I pretended that all was well waiting for his next action.After Jade read the text, he decided to meet with Leticia for more explanations.Few days later, Jade invited her to an outstanding restaurant. Leticia came, feeling very sad and unrelaxed. As soon as she arrived at the venue, she was furious with Jade for not searching for her after she had an accident. She felt abandoned, and unloved, asking why he hadn't tried to find her.Leticia's hurt ran deep. She had been restless since her arrival to her hometown.Leticia asked many questions.“Why didn't you look for me?Did you not care for me enough?You moved on with your life without even trying to find me.” Her anger and hurt boiled, and she kept confronting him, demanding answers about why he hadn't searched for her.Jade was taken back by Leticia's anger. He explained that he had searched for her everywhere, but no one had known what happened to her. He had given up hope, thinking she was gone foreverAs they talked, Leticia realized that Jade's family had kept her accident a secret, and Jade had never known what had happened to her. The truth changed everything, but the hurt and anger still lingered, seeing Leticia again brought back a flood of emotions Jade thought he had long buried. He felt a mix of nostalgia, guilt and longing.Jade couldn't help but wondered what would have been if Leticia hadn't disappeared. Would they still be together? Would their love endured?.Jade found himself comparing me to Leticia. He loved me, but Leticia's reappearance made him question his feelings.Was he truly happy with me, or was he just comfortable?
