“Everything is fine,” the doctor says, and I exhale what feels like my first sigh of relief in several hours. Victor turns his back to us for a moment, taking a second to collect himself. I can feel his intense relief down our bond and smile at his back, grateful that he was there. “I’m okay?” I ask, looking up at the doctor. “You’re fine, Evelyn,” she replies, giving me a smile and sitting familiarly with me on the bed for a chat. “You were just dehydrated and, I suspect, a little exhausted. But the girls are doing great in there, and there’s no reason to expect that any harm was done.
