CHAPTER THREE

865 Words
Karen's s POV I am 19 now, and during the last few years have practiced, and I am now more strong. I pushed myself past my limits because I wanted to be better than how I was and all those training paid off. Alex came over and I pulled my arrow and shot a bird. He noticed that I had already seen him and he already knew what I was about to say. He sighed; not again. I told him was already ready to head out but he gave me the usual reply that I was not yet 21, I told him I was close enough before going to grab the arrow from the bird. There was a rule already laid down that to become a Hunter Purger you had to be at least 21years of age. I kept pressuring him that I was much more skilled than most of the Hunter Purgers, I am the best purger I said. One of the best he corrected before shooting another bird. I smiled; you are scared of admitting that am the best right."Enoch is the only one that is better than me and he is the commander of purgers, he was older than me and more experienced, so that doesn't count. He told me they didn't what me to go outside because of the Elders. He said they did this because they didn't want to lose, and I knew they didn't care about me they only cared about their protection Alex was a great purger, he and I started training around the same time, and there was only a three-year difference between us. He started training at the age of 12. I liked him because he had the same drive as me, to train and become strong. He also had someone he lost during the ambush he lost his dear sister, she died protecting him, he would risk his life dying to protect anyone he cared about and u happened to be one of those he cared about even after I told him I don't need protection from him but he was still persistent. Alex was the responsible one for our duo. He had a soft and kind heart, he always gave a helping hand if anyone needed it. Do you like helping people Karen? he asked, I replied saying I loved helping people but I will rather head out to find and kill vampires than wait like a sheep. "I can kill and kill well, I can sneak up on, he held me on the shoulder stopping me. He told me not to act rashly, I told him I lived acting rashly, the vampires could do the same even better. I didn't want to look at him but he held my chin and tilted it to the direction of his face so I had no choice but to look at him. I found myself analyzing his face kike I have always done when we were this close. He said I lacked teamwork, I do well on my own but not in teams, and to be a Hunter burger teamwork is the main factor. I told him I would try my best. There have been weird moments when we have been together that had me questioning my feelings. Moments when I zoned out looking at him, moments when I missed, moments when he hugged me cause he missed me. I didn't know if u should call this a friend thing or more than a friend thing. I just blamed it on the fact that the number of men in the village was few. I and Alex were walking in the forest when there was a sudden breeze, this meant there was something fast-moving on the perimeter, and by something I meant vampires. We had already been taught extensively on all to feel the wind. Immediately I dropped my sack and bow and brought out my sword, Alex did the same and in no time we were surveying our surroundings back to back. A vampire leaped out of the bushes and tackled me, but it didn't phase me after all having been a purger for many years. I dug my heel into the ground so that I wouldn't lose my balance, I looked at the creature it was a male and a muscular one for that matter, which was good for me because the muscular ones had more brawls than brains. The vampire tried to land and hit but I kept dodging the attacks I threw a dagger at it put in and dodged it but that was only a diversion. I pierced it to the heart, the vampire fell to the ground. Alex was still wrestling with his opponents, the vampire was thin. The thin ones are good at dodging and perceiving attacks. I stabbed it in the back and it does. We cleaned it against the grass, I looked at him and smiled that I thought it was the Slayer. " Always thinking about me dear Karen said a voice above the ground. Only one person called me that, someone I hated very much, I looked up and lied, and behold it was the Slayer.
