- 24 - The party I was to purchase the Stübben saddle and bridle from lived in Wisconsin, but apparently had business in Marquette and offered to meet up somewhere in between. They wanted $500 cash for the whole shebang. We had decided to rendezvous at the Waterfront Park in L’Anse. It was easy to find and very public. For some reason I felt as if I were embarking upon some back-alley transaction. Counterfeit Stübben saddles were not unheard of, so I had done my homework online and knew what to look for. I hoped.
