Chapter 39Montreal looked out over the town square where the New City residents wandered around Tesseract as Thoth and Juniper chatted to them. He smiled. It’s been a long, hard few months, but today will be our last day here. f**k, I’ll miss those I’ve come to regard as family as much as good friends.
“Second thoughts?” Jeroboam’s voice was soft in his ear as his lover leaned in to kiss his neck.
“None at all. You and Aaron are my family. You don’t want to return to captaining a ship; Aaron doesn’t want to be a special agent. Thanks to Thoth, we have somewhere we can go that’ll welcome us, not ask questions, and allow us to live peacefully alongside them.”
“I rather like to notion of living the simple life, growing most of our own food. Just so long as you and Aaron don’t get bored.”
