Chapter 1: What is Life Without Complications?

3052 Words
Darkness swallowed his mind as Death spoke his goodbye only to spit him back out so quickly that he was taken completely by surprise. Harry opened his brilliant green eyes, blinking almost owlishly at the canopy of glittering leaves. Blinding sunlight was easily reflected by thousands of dewdrops that gathered and weighed the tree top-down. This was not what Harry had been expecting and if he went by the feeling in his gut...Harry sat up as quickly as he could and scowled at the forest around him, his suspicions were confirmed, this was not a blank slate like he had wanted. "Death!" Harry shouted in the mental connection that he and the entity share frantically he grasped at his naked chest in search of the pouch that held everything. He sagged in relief when his hand found the weightless pouch against his neck. At least one of his possessions has passed over with him, hopefully, it still held all that he had placed in it. Cackling laughter reverberated throughout his head, the presence of Death blanketing his mind the only other indication that the entity was there, if only in mind. You called, Master? The being sounded clueless as to its sudden summons. Harry inhaled deeply and rubbed his forehead in exasperation. " Death, why is it that I am the only entity here? And why is it that what I had expected to happen hadn't?" Harry asked pensively. He should have asked what would happen with this world transference business instead of just assuming that he would be reborn as a child. You are not alone on your plane, currently, however, you are far from the human population. Life had decided that we shall make your world like the one you were born and raised in. Of course, when the year 1980 arrives you can change the world however you wish to. Even now you may change the world so that it would fit your needs and whims. Consider this your second chance if you will, Master. Death said refusing to answer his second question, or perhaps simply not knowing how to answer it. Harry sighed, "Why am I naked?" There was a chortle of amusement in that presence surrounding Harry's mind. Because you do not need your clothes, the humans of your current time seem just fine without them. Harry scowled hoping against hope that what Death said didn't mean what he thought it did. "What is today's date?" Harry asked in a small voice tilting his head back to watch the blue sky past the never-ending branches of leaves. Today marks the fourth day since Humans have been made and born on your plane. Harry groaned and sagged onto the forest floor in defeat. Why him? Why must such shitty things happen to him? "Death, which deity had I angered?" Harry asked in barely a whisper knowing the entity would hear. That was the only explanation for why he was always in situations that he never had foreseen or planned for. No matter the many times that he had plotted and calculated absolutely everything. You have done nothing to anger anyone, Master. We all are in actuality quite happy that you exist or there would have been a great imbalance. Harry frowned, he knew that he was slowly becoming a deity through his Mastership over death. Though he did not know what deity he was, he would not until his transformation into a complete deity. Every Deity came into being through two means, one Mastership over another Deity or simply popping one day into existence. Currently, there were 6 Deities. Chaos, Order, Time, Space, Death, and lastly Life. Time is the Master of Space, while Life is the Master of Chaos. Although each of them had names none liked being called by them unless the Deities have given their express permission to call them by their names. Harry could hardly believe that there was an imbalance between the Deities when they have lived millennia without him. A whispering sigh sounded through the link between himself and Death. It is not just an imbalance between us, my Master. There is an imbalance in the very air around us due to the one thing that none of us can produce. And since you have become my Master you have constantly produced that one thing that we need. Death said softly, Harry frowned watching the sky in confusion. "And what may that be?" Harry asked. There was a soft rattling laugh as Death responded. Since this does not count as telling you what Deity you are, I can tell you, my dear Master, Magic. "WHAT?!" Harry bolted upright eyes wild in his shock, "I've been producing Magic this entire time? But how? I thought that Magic was just, well there?" He continued incredulously. A snort of amusement had the green-eyed man scowling again feeling ridiculous. Nothing simply is, everything needs to be made and/ or brought into existence through the assistance of the Deities. At first, some of us produced enough magic to create freely and do as we please, but as time went on, we found that none could produce enough to keep up with our creations. You however will never stop producing an absurd amount of Magic since it is a part of who you are. Harry frowned and sighed. "Okay, okay, I get that, thank you, Death," Harry grumbled and Death gave a rumbling laugh before leaving him, most likely to check on his world or the Ether where the souls of the dead and yet to be born reside. An echoing thump rang through the dead emerald forest, Harry sighed as he ran a hand down his face in defeat. He should have known that life could never be a simple thing for him, much like Death who refused to even contemplate taking its masters' soul. Harry couldn't understand why he of all the beings in the entire dimensions or whatever would be chosen to become a Deity. He out of everyone that existed didn't deserve this chance especially considering all that he had done. But then what about all the other deities? A traitorous part of himself asked. They have done far worse than he has, even Life had destroyed countless civilizations in her bid for entertainment. And all that he has ever done was kill those who weren't innocent. His morals were screwed. Harry sighed and lifted his hand above himself to inspect it. Rays of light filtered through his fingers, fingers that were so pale that they looked almost like snow in the bright light that seeped past his flesh. The hand was remarkably unmarked, all of the scars that he has collected as the years ticked by, gone like the wind. He didn't know how to feel about that. Some of those scars showed that he had managed to survive while the others were from meaningless incidents that he would rather forget. But how could he forget his sufferings? Harry rolled his eyes and dropped his hand onto his forehead. Why was he fretting over this? He had no choice in becoming a Deity, this world however was his to do with as he pleases. Harry groaned and picked himself up from the ground. Since magic was one of the things he was able to just do, it was kind of his responsibility to make sure it didn't die out. So muggles had to go. Maybe when the time of his eleventh birthday came he could make use of Voldemort...... Harry frowned and titled his head to the side. Or he could interfere while the man was 15 or so. Lead him to destroy the entire muggle populace. Harry scowled as something occurred to him, Tom Marvalo Riddle was too angry at the muggle populace to go about it as a true Slytherin would. He needed to make the man see that a face-to-face confrontation like that would only see to the destruction of magic itself. And to do that he would have to wait until Voldemort came to kill his parents, then he could preferably work on restoring the man's sanity. Harry huffed and began to wander through the forest as he mulled over his newfound problem. Or he could just adopt baby Tom and raise him. But then the man wouldn't hold a grudge against muggle folk now, would he? Harry froze, eyes widening comically. He was thinking of using a kid, a child to destroy the muggles. He couldn't do that. He hated being used, he didn't want to do that to a child. Harry inhaled deeply and continued to walk on. Well then, what was he supposed to do? He didn't want to influence time so much that little Tom wouldn't be born. Although he wanted to wipe every single magic-less being from his world. Perhaps then he should do so slowly? Harry raked a hand through his hair and eyed the sky. Plans ran through his mind quickly and when he finally settled on one, he grinned ferally in satisfaction. He just hoped that no one messed his plans up again. Harry knew that contrary to what most would believe, going through another version of his world would be devastating to both his mental and emotional state. For how could it not be? He was basically going through the history of his past and messing it up. There was a high chance that he might be the cause for his own parent’s separation or even their deaths. He could be the end of thousands and he would be painfully aware of it the entire time. It certainly doesn’t help that he’s planning on annihilating an entire race of beings. Beings he knows would do everything in their power to torture, experiment and even kill those of the magical race. He remembers that the magical race was peaceful before the witch hunts. That they had lived silently by the side of those without magic for centuries, had helped, healed and shared their knowledge of the world with them. Time had personally shared the entirety of his world’s history with him, the good and the bad. And he knows through the knowledge he has that the only reason magical people had been hunted was because of the God that muggles had begun to believe in, even though the God they believe in had only started to exist millennia after they started to believe in Him. Only for that God to perish in his early years due to the idiocy that most muggles had. 89 % of the muggle populace were sadistic bastards while only 11 % were innocent and kind beings. How could a God that was born through belief of kindness and pure of heart live long with a populace like that? It was simply cruel for anyone to think that a God born of belief would live in such a situation. Another reason for the hunt of 1450 to 1750was because of a royal muggle being scared of his lover and then condemning her to the burnings, along with the fetus that had still rested in her womb. But still, that 11 were innocent souls that didn’t deserve to die just because the others were stupid. Two wrongs, after all, can never make a right no matter how hard a person tries. Harry closed his eyes and tilted his head back. Why is everything always so complicated? He exhaled slowly, smiling sadly. It was either them or everyone else and the whole world with it. A branch snapped and he reacted upon long honed reflex, folding easily into a defensive position and pointing a suddenly flaming hand in the general direction the noise had come from, blinking slowly at the sight of a deer. It was bathed in soft hues of blue that felt faintly of ice. Harry blinked and relaxed slowly. The deer bravely walked on even after having been spotted by him. Coming to a halt in front of him and slowly lowering itself onto the floor. He frowned down at the creature in wonderment Harry knelt and reached out cautiously. But the glowing being only closed its eyes and butted its snout against his hand. The fur was soft and silky under the pads of his fingers. No other sensation but nothingness came to him so suddenly that he gasped only to find that there was no air to breathe. And then he was aware of every molecule, every little cell in the world that contained even a little bit of water. He could hear thousands of different sounds that he could hardly believe existed. The scents and visual feedback weren’t helping either. Harry’s head spun along with the dizzying feeling of being in millions of places and even more as he was spread further and further from where he knelt, the deer’s head lying gently in the palm of his hand. He wanted to scream and call out for this to stop, but he couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth to do any of that since he could barely even comprehend half the things he was seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling, and even tasting! It was too much. Yet somehow not nearly enough, he was missing something that should be there alongside the new experience and he screamed at himself for even wanting that. His awareness all the while was still stretching, past millions of worlds that were so far away they might as well be universes apart. Harry felt like he would never see the world that he had envisioned come to life, for he was sure that his mind would tear itself to pieces with how fast it was scrambling to assimilate all that he was now a fundamental part of. He doesn’t know how long he had knelt there, being spread out so widely that he felt like he was breaking, but eventually his mind adjusted even as he was stretched further from where his physical body sat. Eventually, he could focus on everything yet still be able enough to react to his bodily surroundings. His body was shaking, a pounding drum beating harshly in his bruised head and he was barely holding onto the deer. “Mischievous creature.” Harry scolded the deer softly. He understood though barely what was happening. And that the little fellow was early in its approach. Air huffed against his palm and a coarse tongue licked a stripe across his hand. Harry jerked back in shock staring down at the glimmering deer. It stood and bowed before fading away in sparkling water. He huffed and wiped his hand on the grass with a small scowl. The bloody thing had only dropped by to deliver its ‘gift’ and then went right back to what it had been doing before it had come to him. He fell back onto the grass and sighed focusing completely on the overwhelming surge of new information. Only to discover that he had stopped being stretched but was intimately aware of several facts. One: He knew where everything was, that included the other Deities and their worlds. Two: He could feel the movement of who knows how many people at the same time and knew what each of them were up to. Three: Earth was twenty times the size it had been in his time. And lastly, he could feel where every drop of water currently was. Great, Potter luck strikes again! A loud rumbling had the man blushing scarlet, even as a deity his body had never stopped craving food even though he was aware that he could live without the need to eat he liked to eat as much as he could. With a childhood like the one that he had had he isn’t surprised or ashamed of his need for food. The emerald eyed man crossed his legs as he sat up and glanced around both through his new inner ‘eye’ and his real eyes. He could always go hunting? He wasn’t too bad at it and it would increase his stamina and fitness, hopefully. He stood and took off running headlong in the direction that several huge boars were grazing at long grass. It was a long way from where Harry had been and out of the forest to boot, but he was in the mood for pork chops, the rest of the meat can be made into jerky. Then he would investigate a village far from the forest that he had awoken in. Of course it wasn’t really necessary per say, but well he wanted to be there in person to see everything that happened there in person for himself. As soon as he cleared the tree line a grin stole across his face and he spun on his heels, magic twirling like a cloak around his body before swallowing him whole. Electricity sparked above a horde of boars and they scattered apart from one that was a moment to slow to realise what was happening. Harry appeared through the electricity a flaming bow and a frozen arrow at the ready, which he released upon appearing amidst the sparks. Landing easily on his feet and shaking his hand to get rid of the flaming bow. His friends would have rolled their eyes at his dramatics, he thought sadly and sighed, shaking his head and stalking to the dead boar. The arrow stuck out from its neck and was making a mess off the beautiful grass valley that the boars had been in before he had so sudely interrupted their…was it breakfast or lunch? His inner eye said almost dinner time, Harry winced and glanced up even though it was unecassary, the sun was close to setting. The century old man pouted up at the sky in irritation at being incorrect. Waving his hand he dispelled the arrow and got to work on skinning the boar, subconsciously adding three wards around him that should block the scent of blood, the sight of them and the area itself from prying eyes. Not that he believed there to be any prying eyes to speak of. The place was bare of any life apart from animals and the occasional mystic. “ Almost dinner time!” A bloody Harry Potter sing-songed.
