4 : Who are you?

674 Words
My footsteps were loud in the silent night. My heart was leaping out of my chest and I felt like I was about to pass out from the fears of the creature who was not far behind and I was being chased by that thing. Looking behind, I didn't even see anything but I knew it was somewhere there, watching and running like me. Like a lurking cat in the silent room who is about to jump on the little mouse. After awhile it became silent and I forced myself to stop so I can normally breathe through my nose. My lungs were burning and my head was spinning from the run. Checking my surroundings, I spotted the lake near the central park. The sky was clear and I was very relieved it's not raining now. All around me was silence, only the wind was heard. The creature was gone. Feeling exhausted, I found the bench were I can sit down and waited a little while my heart is yet again calm but when that thought crossed my mind, I heard the footsteps nearby. My insides were frozen but then the voice interrupted my racing heart. "Hey, sweet thing. What are you doing here, alone?" It was a man. And he was drunk. When my gaze lept to him, I felt disgusted when I saw the way the old man was checking me out with a lustful stare. He was coming in my way and it was clear, It was some street thief. Oh, great, another who wants to hurt me.  Wasting no time, I quickly stood up and made my way far away from him so I can escape. I didn't want any trouble and I knew If I don't run, he will catch me. The old man was pretty quick to catch up with me because I saw his devilish grin. "Oh come on, sweetheart. I just want to help you find a way to get home. There is no reason you to run, it's safe," telling lies, I didn't respond. I started running. Again. Surprisingly I didn't get very far. Making some steps, some hands grabbed me and I screamed in response. " GET AWAY FROM ME! " I wanted to be as loud as possible so everyone can hear me, crying for help but that obviously didn't help. The old man's hands closed my mouth and I forced myself to not throw up. The man's skin had a terrible smell. Like he had been in the trash for weeks. It was disgusting. Trashing in his arms, I tried to kick him but he just held me tighter. "Stop struggling," snarling in my ear, I forced myself to be calm and not cry. I was going to die, I knew it but I tried to think otherwise. Closing my eyes in one moment the man's hands were all around me but then like the world suddenly snapped. I was thrown away like a rag doll and I heard like bones were crashing. My kidnapper screamed and then his voice cut off and everything stopped and was silent. My gaze went to the place were the man was but now there was something else with him. Like a big dog or something was near the man who was now laying on the ground, completely motionless. The dog's eyes were glowing and his stare was on me. My mouth went dry when he came towards, making the street light show him better. He was limping because looking closer.... My thoughts stopped when I realized it's not a dog but really big black and white wolf, like from my dreams. It was completely the same and now he was hurt.  "Who are you?" I whispered, my heart pounding really fast.  The creature awoke from the sound of my voice like he was in the trance. Turning around with the last glance in my direction, he disappeared and vanished from my sight, like a ghost in the silent night, leaving behind no trace of him.
