Aria stared around and got intimidated. One glance at the whole school she knew she doesn't belong here. Everything, everywhere screams wealth.
"Breath Aria". She whispered to herself
She’d promised her mother she would make the most of this transfer. “Focus on your studies,” Mom had said. “Don’t get into trouble.”
That was the plan. Stay invisible. Keep her head down. Make it to graduation.
"Hey Lucy, can I use the washroom". Mabel said to Lucy.
"Okay, I will take you there, Be careful Aria we will be back".
Aria nodded her head and walk towards the hallway.
The first thing she noticed when she stepped into the hallway was the silence. Not the normal morning chatter she expected, but the kind of silence that meant everyone was watching something—or someone.
At the center of the wide, tiled hallway stood Damien Carter.
He was leaning against a row of lockers, a basketball spinning lazily on one finger, his head tilted in lazy arrogance. The crowd parted around him as if he owned not just the hallway but the entire school. His sharp jawline, storm-grey eyes, and dark hair that fell perfectly into place gave him an effortless beauty that made every girl swoon. But it wasn’t just his looks it was the power he carried.
Damien Carter was the King of Golden High. Everyone knew it. Everyone feared it.
Beside him stood his two shadows Chris Kenta, quiet and unreadable, and Daniel Brown, the joker with a sharp smirk that could cut glass. They weren’t just his best friends; they were his inner circle, untouchable and untamed.
" Oh God, I wish Damien will just look at me"
"Chris is looking so hot today"
"Daniel will you be mine"
Students whispered among themselves. Aria looked at them and knew they were the trio of golden High, Rich, Powerful and merciless if you dared to cross their part.
She made a mental note: Avoid them at all costs.
If only fate was that kind.
" Damien" someone called out.
"Your wife is here" Daniel said with a smug smile looking irritated while Chris rolled his eyes.
Vanessa walked up to them and try touching Damien but he avoided her and walked away leaving her embarrassed, Vanessa stomped here feet angrily and whispered you are mine.
Damien and Vanessa had been betrothed when they were children but Damien doesn't like Vanessa one bit infact he loathes her same with his friends.
Aria had gone to collect her textbooks and she had a pile on her hands that made it a little bit difficult to see.
"That the new girl"
"Hope she doesn't cross part with trouble"
"Heard she came with her friend do you think they will survive a week here".
Aria tried to avoid the mummers and kept her haze forward she knew she has to survive.
Then it happened.
Aria hit against something which sent her books flying with her falling on her butt.
Lucy and Mabel arrived at the scene.
"Oh no". Lucy muttered.
She bent to pack her books while Mabel tried to help her Lucy dragged her back "Don't". She told her, Mabel gave her a 'why' look irritated by the laughter echoing in the hallway.
Aria though it was just another careless student but when she looked who it was....
He stood there with his a basketball. His dark hair glowing in the lights with arrogance and pride in his eyes.
Aria's book had landed right at his feet, the hallway fell silent everybody watching.
Damien smirked, looked down at the book and then at her" well, well who do we have here"
Aria's nerves were already frayed. She reached out to the book only for Damien to plant his expensive sneakers on it.
Laughter erupted in the crowd.
" People end up in where they don't belong". Damien said coolly.
Aria shuddered but she managed to speak.
"It just a book, can you move your foot"
Gasps echoed. No one spoke to Damien Carter like that.
His eyes narrowed slightly, though amusement glinted beneath the storm. “You’ve got a mouth.”
From his left, watched silently. His calm brown eyes gave nothing away, though Aria thought she caught the faintest flicker of surprise.
From his right, Daniel Brown smirked, “Careful, Lane. You’ll make the King interested in you, and trust me you don’t want that.”
The crowd chuckled, waiting for Damien’s verdict.
For a moment, Aria fell cold. But then, slowly, he lifted his foot. She grabbed the book quickly, hugging it to her chest.
“Thanks,” she muttered, trying to walk away.
But Damien’s voice stopped her cold.
“Lane, right?”
She turned surprised
He said. “Word travels fast in my school.”
Aria’s lips parted, but no words came.
Lucy quickly came to her dragging her along with Mabel.
She groaned under her breath. “Oh, Aria. You just made Damien Carter your enemy.”
