Chapter Twenty-Four When Deborah went down, I threw the glass at her. It probably wouldn’t hurt her much, but I couldn’t climb out holding it. Then I scrambled over the wall, hardly daring to look at Deborah. Only one thing was on my mind: escape. Pausing only to snatch my phone from the ground where it had fallen, I raced for the stairs. A scream of rage behind me told me that she wouldn’t be down for long. When I got to the top of the stairs, I thrust the door open. Footsteps pounded toward me.
