“ Who was he?” Trinna asked Layla, who nearly choked on her food , of course she knows who her aunty was talking about
“ Who?” Layla asked her gaze focused sternly on the meal she was eating
“ The guy that was in the principal's office lastly “ Trinna said eating her meal as she stared at her God child
“ Oh . He's name is Blaze” Layla said with a lot going on in her mind
‘ Does Aunty Trinna know about my strange feelings towards Blaze?'
‘ Did she notice anything?’
‘ Why? Why? Why? Did she ask about him?’
Thoughts like that were running through her mind
“ Layla?” Trinna called when she noticed Layla wasn't eating anymore , just staring at her meal
“ Huh?” Layla said now looking at her aunty Trinna
“ You seem lost” Trinna said chewing on her steaks but never once did she advert her gaze from Layla
“ Oh” Layla said, going back to her meal . She didn't know what else to say and she can't possibly lie , it would turn out to be a big disaster and her aunty might start suspecting her that's if she hadn't started . When Trinna realised Layla wasn't going to say anything she continued
“ Are you two very close?” Trinna asked , Layla eyes darted to her aunty then back to her meal
“ Aunty Trinna, I just started school two days ago and you expect me to be very close with anyone?” Layla said praying silently her aunty would drop down the Blaze topic
“ I'm talking about him” Trinna said again
“ Nope. we're not even close” Layla said chewing slowly on her pancakes
“ I noticed the way you both were staring at each other today , as if you both are in some kind of….” Trinna couldn't finish her statement when Layla interrupted
“ We're not in anything aunty Trinna , if there's anything going on I'll let you know”Layla said, still chewing on her delicious pancakes, everywhere was now silent ,you can hear the sound of the wind hitting the trees. Layla took a deep breath before letting it out
“ Aunty you know I always tell you my secrets, whatever it is I'll always tell you , and you also tell me your secrets right ?” Layla asked holding her hand in hers with a smile plastered on her pretty face
“ Yes dear” she said looking away . If only she knew the whole truth , deep down Trinna’s heart she wants to tell her everything, she wanted to let her know everything but she couldn't , she made a promise and it wasn't yet the right time to let her know. Trinna took a deep breath mentally smiling as she remembered what principal Censo said earlier today
FLASH BACK….
“ I'm so sorry If it's about my daughter display of attitude” Trinna said as they stood at the door of the office
“ No Ms Trinna, it's not about that. You have such a smart and courageous daughter , I like the fact that she's not ready to give up no matter what, she just started two day ago and has already made friends with Blaze, she's gifted and we're happy to have her here in the school” Principal Censo said smiling
“ Oh that's good, thanks for accepting my daughter again” Trinna smiled
“ Anytime Ms Trinna, have a nice day” The principal said opening his office
“ You too Mr Censo” Trinna smiled once again turning as she walked off...
END OF FLASH BACK.
“Aunty Trinna?” Layla called when she came back
“ Yes dear” Trinna said her gaze back on her God child
“ You've been staring at the window and smiling for long” Layla said putting her chair back in place
“ I never knew” Trinna said now looking at Layla with that same sweet smile on her face
“ What were you thinking about?” Layla asked sitting back in her chair
“ How blessed I am to have you” Trinna said smiling brightly
“ So am I” Layla smiled
“ But aunty I've been wondering why I need a new bead ,I mean the old one was still okay, and this new one isn't different from the old one” Layla said
“ This new one is better . And whenever you're in danger I'll know” Trinna said and it was true half of it though, the main reason she made this new bead was to keep Layla's powers from showing any sign
“ How is that possible?” Layla asked not buying any of what her aunty just said
“ it . Was . Blessed” Trinna said smiling at the end, Layla raised a questionable brow at her still confused
“ By a crystal ball Lady” Trinna said, still smiling. Layla decided not to question her more about it. If not she'll end up asking more questions and getting more confused than she already is . That's when she remembered something about what Blaze had said earlier today ‘ THE BRIGHTEST STAR'
“ Okay aunty, I'll be up in my room” Layla said running to the stairs, mid way through the stairs she stopped
“ and also the plates has already been washed” she said running to her room
That's when Trinna noticed the cleared tables she couldn't help but smile more, if only she hadn't made that promise, she would have told Layla everything by now. Trinna stood up from her chair keeping it in place as she also headed to her room.
Layla opened her curtains to see that the sun was already down but it wasn't night yet, sighing as she sat on her bed, legs crossed all the while thoughts of what Blaze said earlier occupied her mind. Deciding not to kill herself with different thoughts she decided to keep reading ‘The Power Keeper' taking out the book from her school bag she continued from where she had stopped.
“ It's open” Layla said when she heard her door knocking
“ Hmm I can see my angel is busy” Trinna said going over to sit on Layla's bed
“ Just reading” Layla said keeping the book down
“ Interesting?” Trinna said raising a questionable brow
“ Yes , VERY VERY interesting” Layla said smiling widely
“ I see, just wanted to say goodnight to my angel” Trinna said with a smile . That when it dawned on Layla, she quickly look out her window to see it was already night time
“ Oh I don't know it was already late” Layla said calmly, which made Trinna chuckled
“ Alright dear, don't stay up too late” Trinna kissed Layla forehead,
“ Goodnight aunty Trinna” Layla said, then Trinna got out
“ Good night dear” Trinna said closing the door gently behind her . Layla opened her curtains looking up to the sky the stars wasnt yet out and that's strange ‘ what if the brightest star is gone' she thought but what if it hasn't, she just have to wait and see, she kept looking up waiting for the brightest star to appear with two questions on her mind
‘ which side does it appear the east, west or somewhere far from here?’
‘ did Blaze lied to her?’
She doesn't even know the answer to one but Blaze can't possibly lie to her, she doesn't even know anything about him, she doesn't even want to. She was sitted on her bed, she leaned forward to the window still gazing up praying the star would appear this side of the sky, seconds turn into minutes, minutes into hours but still no sign of the brightest star not even the stars were out but still she waited, already tired and ready to give up she decided to close her curtains and have a nice sleep, she held her curtains about pulling it down that's when she saw it ‘ THE BRIGHTEST STAR’ she screamed mentally, oh was she very happy to see it, the beautiful glow was amazing as it shone boldly in between the seven mountains, this was a sight she wants to see every night when she looks out her window, too bad it only appears once speaking of once she needs to make a wish. She stare at the star thinking of what to wish for, there are lots of things going on in her head she can't even think of the right wish, she heaved a deep breath, still contemplating on what to wish for, that's when she remembered Blaze words
