Chapter 5
Waking up, I really didn't want to move. I'm warm and very comfortable in Evans arms. Just the the events of yesterday came flooding into my senses. He had marked him and somehow I was able to mark him back. Does this mean I'm now a vampire.
"No love you're not one yet. We will get to that once we're back home." A voice suddenly entered my head making me jump. It sounded just like Evan, but the voice spoke in my head. "It's called a mate link. I can hear your thoughts, and you can hear mine. I'll teach you how to hide some as well." This time he spoke out loud.
"You could have warned me. I almost had a heart attack." He chuckled at my outburst. I landed a soft punch to his arm and we went into a play fight. Moments later we both hear someone clearing their throat. Looking up I could see Jenny clinging to an agitated looking Ethan. "Give us a few more moments. My parents are going to be screaming soon." I dismissed them and Evan gave me an approving smile.
He wretch a hand to my neck were he marked me and it sent a rush of tingles down my spine. "The mark looks beautiful on you my love." He got this loving look as he gazed on it. The words finally registering to me, I rush to the mirror to have a look.
There I can see a black and white bloomed out rose with Evan's name written in cursive. Gently touching it, I smiled at how it looks. "I love it. Is yours the same." He nodded and came to me, showing my mark. The only difference is his says my name. I love that it looks like a tattoo, that way no humans will question the two holes in my neck.
We decided to spend till ten just cuddling and play fighting. We have really only know each other for maybe a day or so, but it feels like an eternity. "Come on we need to get going. I want to get this over with and soon." I said finally getting up. At first I didn't want to leave, but the more time I spent with Evan the more it felt right to.
"Do you want to eat breakfast first?" He asked between pecking my cheeks. Nodding he picked me up bridal style and rushed from the room. His vamp speed caused me to giggle like a little kid when they get excited. He showed me earlier and knew how much I loved it.
Once in the kitchen he set me down on the bar stool and got to cooking. "Whats on the menu this morning Mr. Chef?" He turned around with a grin at my question. Jenny and Ethan came down and joined us a few moments later. I looked at her neck to see her mark, but I couldn't find one. "Where's your mark?" I asked her.
She seemed to choke on her drink at my bluntness. "Mine is the same as yours, but is a raven in flight. I just use a spell to hide it sometimes." She ran a hand over her neck and the raven appeared. It is beautifully done, I wonder why she chooses to hide it. "I look sixteen and humans ask to many questions." She had a point.
"It looks beautiful and I think it fits you perfectly. I'd just ignore them and let it show." A smile graced her face at my words. It is true that the mark matched her perfectly, I noticed she began to touch and a look of pride came on her face.
She went to speak, but Evan place our food in front of us. We took to enjoying our feast instead of talking. He made bacon, eggs, and pancakes which are amazingly good. I made a sandwich out of all of it, which caused the others to laugh. "It's called a breakfast sandwich." I stuck my tongue out at them, which caused them to laugh more.
Jenny and I took to doing the clean up, since the boys did last night. "When you two get done, we'll head out. We should make it to your house by 12:30pm." We nodded in agreement. My nerves started to spike now. Thirty more minutes and I'll have to talk to my family. I want to just skip this, but I know I couldn't do this to them.
We finished and packed up all the guns. I plan to give them all back to my parents, since we won't be needing them anymore. "Are you ready?" I looked to Evan who is coming down the steps. Nodding, he grabbed my hand and out the door we went. Evan started to run soothing circles on my hand, as a way to try and calm my racing heart.
"Just breathe. If anything we will mind wipe them. There is nothing to worry about. You'll still get to see them when you want. We'll move them into that house if you want or build up the cabin since it's private." Evan's words calmed me a lot. I just hope that they take everything well, and the compulsion won't be needed.
"How is he?" I heard Jenny ask. I looked at her with confusion not knowing what she's meaning. "David. He was sweet and honestly a bit nerdy. He did have a bad temper though." I couldn't help, but laugh. That didn't sound like the father I know.
"Well the temper has remained. He has a library yes, but he's into sports and coaches now. He's become a skilled hunter and he taught me everything I know. It's how he met my mother actually." I began to explain to her. She listened intrigued by how her brother has changed from the boy she knew.
"How did they meet exactly? I must have left with Ethan before that happened." She looked sad at how she left. I'm guessing she was too afraid to say goodbye. Those same thoughts ran through my head, but I just couldn't leave them.
"Grandpa took him to the cabin when everything happened. Well my dad was out and came across my mom stuck in a bear trap. He had to kill some football players that were hunting her and brought her back with him. They waited for the rest of that time out in the cabin together. Two years later, they got married and had me. Another five years they had the twins, Annalise and Anthony. Now that I think of it Annalise looks like a carbon copy of you." I told her truthfully.
Now that I think of them, I could see the resemblance. She smiled hearing the story. "She also has my middle name. Your father may have thought it is a way of keeping me alive." She spoke with a far away look. I felt bad that she never got to meet us until now. I feel like my mother would have loved her.
"They'll love you. You'll like my mom too, she's sweet. Dad, I don't know how he'll act about it or any of this." I spoke softly. My dad's reaction is going to be completely unpredictable. That thought alone scares the daylights out of me.
The rest of the walk I decided to stay quiet and think over what I should say. I know they're probably not going to take any of this good. I am suddenly crashed against a firm chest, by the tingles I knew exactly who it was. I looked to him completely confused. "You almost stepped in a bear trap. What's going on with you love?" Evan spoke.
I looked down and could now see the traps. "I'm just thinking a lot about what my family may say or do. I'm just really worried." I told him with my head down. He just picked me up, and continued our journey. I'm glad that he just let me be in silence. We arrived at the cabin quicker than I had anticipated.
"Father! I'm home!" I decided to call them outside. It would be easier for us to leave if things began to go south. My father came out holding a gun, as did Anthony and they kept my mom and sister in the middle. I could see all of them looking over all of us and stopping to me still in Evans arms. "We need to talk." I told them.
"Firstly. Why are you in his arms? Why are you all here? Is that... Jenny?" My father is angry, but once his eyes landed on Jenny he become confused and sad. My father then raised his gun at her. "You look sixteen, but when I said Jenny, you got a pained look in your eyes. Why is that?" He began to scream at her.
"I am your sister David. Please put the gun down and let's talk. There's a lot to be explained, please brother." She spoke in a pleading voice. She went to step forward, but my father fired a shot and Ethan yanked her back into him. This is going far worse than I expected.
"Dad. it is Jenny I promise. Ethan and Evan are vampires. Ethan found her here twenty years ago and Evan found me now. They murders had to happen so that we become strong. Just as Jenny left with Ethan, I must leave with Evan." Evan had let me down, and I began to walk closer to my family while I spoke. They looked taken aback, except for my dad. I can see the wheels turning in his head.
"No daughter of mine will be with such monsters. I lost my sister to them, and I refuse to lose my daughter!" My father grew angrier by the second. I didn't expect his outburst, nor the fact that he would shoot them. I watched as he raised his gun towards Evan. Everything after that seemed to push in slow motion.
I ran in front of Evan it seemed in slow motion. I felt the bullet slowly enter into my abdomen. I could hear everyone screaming and yelling, but could only focus in on the throbbing in my stomach. Everyone's voices started to sound far away and black spots came into my vision. It took all the pain away and urged me to close my eyes. The last thing I heard before I closed my eyes, "We need to take her to the castle. There might be a way to save her." Evan's voice began to slip away like the wind.
