Chapter 3

TANYA I burst through the door, and when the man turns, i come down on my knees immediately. "Sir, please." Tears wet my cheeks. "It was a mistake, i didn't mean to. Please don't fire me. I need the job." "Young lady, get up." "No, please, sir." I grab his trousers, risking being kicked away with his foot like an animal, but he doesn't. "I'm begging you." "Who, what are you talking about?" "I'm the girl you just fired. I desperately need the job, and i have nowhere to go." "Oh, you're mistaken." "I know, you never go back on your word, but please.." He faces the ceiling and sighs. "The f**k?" A voice has me pausing. When i hear "In my own house," i realize the mistake i just made. This man is not the boss. Whoever is behind me is. And by the looks of things, he definitely thinks i was doing nasty things with this older man. He asks me to meet his eyes, and slowly, i do, wanting to collapse with fear. It's true what they say, his presence and dominance can be felt in the room when he's there. Freeze. Time stops. My heart beats at a slow, unhealthy pace. Standing in front of me is the most gorgeous man I've ever seen. He's tall, has a fit body with muscles that are just right enough to strain his shirt a little, has long hair that reaches the mid of his neck, neatly slicked backward. No too much gel. His piercing eyes are confusing. They appear to be green, grey, brown or purple. They're hazel. Straight nose, gorgeous mouth, a small dip on his chin and thick lashes. Jesus christ. What is he? "Get out!" He says when i fail to bring out words of explanation because i'm just too stunned. I stand and leave. * * * I've been crying nonstop. If i go on like this, i might get sick, but i just can't help it. The door opens and Sylvia walks in. "Wipe that face and compose yourself. The boss agreed to reconsider his decision if you apologize the right way." I jump off the bed. "Really?" She scolded me for barging into his office earlier this morning and asked if i had a death wish. "You don't want him to change his mind by keeping him waiti-" I'm already out the door before she can even finish. When i reach the door to the study, i stand there for one good minute. I'm extremely nervous as hell. I knock and then enter. The first thing he says to me has me surprised. "Say my name." I can feel the weight of his stare on me. "Mitchell." Silence. One, two, three, four seconds. He stands and i start to fidget when i see his feet walking towards me. "Tell me. What makes you think you can get wasted drunk in my house and sleep in my bed?" He towers over me, exuding the aura of an alpha in the room. His scent, good gracious. Masculine and so alluring, i just want to burry my nose in his shirt. "I have no right at all, sir, and i understand the severity of what i did." He places his hand under my chin, lifting my face to his but i don't dare stare into them. The contact of his skin against mine leaves a burning sensation on the flesh. "Meet my eyes." My heart beats erratically. I meet his eyes and holy molly. If i thought he was gorgeous before, label me a liar. "Apologize." He says and his voice goes straight to torment my lady parts. His eyes move to my lips then back to my eyes and i swallow nervously. "I'm sorry for crossing boundaries i shouldn't have. Please give me my job back and I'll never leave room for mistakes." His eyes focus on my mouth the entire time i spoke to apologize. He c***s his head to the side. "If i give you your job back, you'll be a good girl?" I nod. "Words." He demands. "Yes. I'll be a good girl." Our eyes lock and i can't help examining him. Tracing every feature and burning it into my memory. He's tall, really tall, about six foot four if I'm not mistaken. This conversation should sound wrong. Good girl? I should run thinking he's a p*****t. But i want to stay, i want him to keep me. What the hell am i saying? I step back and his hand falls from my chin. He places it back in his pocket and rounds back to his chair. "Leave." I take that as me having my job back. I leave before i piss him off and he changes his mind. * * * There goes the dirty look again. "What?" I ask and she just walks away. I shake my head and continue cleaning. "Tanya?" Sylvia calls. "A word please." I drop the dishwasher and follow her. "You are a very lucky girl. But there are things you need to follow in order to keep your job." My heartbeat skips. "One; you are to stay away from the second floor, the boss does not want to lay eyes on you. Two; No holiday pardons for you." "What?" I frown. "But Thanksgiving is just five days away. I promised to spend it with my best friend who's like a sister to me." She nods. "Mhmm. I know, Thanksgiving is all about family. But if you want to keep this job as much as you cried for it two days ago, then you'll have to follow these two rules." Yeah. I'm pissed. Clara is the only family i have now, we only have each other in this foreign country. We helped each other when we met and have grown so close in just five months. "Do you understand?" She says sternly. "Yes, i understand." Mitchell might be handsome and all, but he is quite a cold hearted man. If i know what's best for me, then i should avoid him like he is the devil.
