I’m not a choir director, and I don’t play one on television, but I’ve been in choirs—church, community, school and university choirs—for as long as I can remember. Some of my fondest memories are singing with the Valley Symphony Chorale, which is the basis for the chorale Brooke and Kenneth sing in. For me, with a high-tension job, singing is like therapy. Choir directors, whether paid or volunteer, provide a needed outlet for so many people. They work when others are on vacation, work extra at holidays, work nights and weekends, all so the music can keep flowing. They’re unsung heroes… pun intended.
