CHAPTER FORTY-THREE PRIYAToday begins and ends the same as it has the past few weeks. Wake up, get a shot, eat the meal generously given to me, go outside, come back inside, shower, eat again, and then sleep. It’s a repetitive cycle that I welcome. Once the rain clears, the viewers will return. I enjoy the late summer showers though. They are sporadic and all at once. The soft splash of a raindrop, the caress of a breeze, the warmth of the sun, it all reminds me that this is real, and I’m not trapped in the white room—physically—anymore. It’s helpful to have Isa and Des to keep me preoccupied from my wayward thoughts. I can’t find the strength to talk to Emery. I’m afraid she’s not real, or worse, that she is.
