CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE PRIYAThe slow humming of a bird gently coaxes my eyes to move behind my redden eyelids. It’s such a beautiful sound and I want to wake up to enjoy the delicate notes but I can’t. The sides of my head feel as if they are trying to pull apart from one another, causing me to roll over and scream in agony. My cries catch on thick wetness in my mouth and I start to choke. Using my hand, I wipe away what feels like foam from my mouth. Despair and confusion settle over me as I curl up into a ball, wrapping my arms around my knees, hoping to shake the crushing storm raging behind the walls of my mind. The sweet melody of the chirping bird slowly starts to fade back into focus and I hear my name whispered in my ear. I’m able to flutter my eyes open finally. Bright rays of light
