Chapter Three:

1161 Words
I had to say, for a gang, the inside of the cabin was pretty comfortable. There was a large TV on the wall, just below some blue closed curtains. The floor was a nice forest green carpet, the walls a dazzling white. There was a brown leather couch opposite the TV, and two doors at the far end of the cabin I assumed one was a toilet and the other led to a bedroom. At the end I was nearest to, by the entrance, there was a kitchen. A silver, glossy fridge, a silver sink and shiny black marble table tops. I also noticed a stove, above which lay an analogue clock. "Have you finished ogling at my house?" Alex asked with a sly smile. I just mutely shook my head at him whilst smiling. Some shitty comedy show was on, and three other guys were watching it. One was brown haired and blue eyed, the other ginger and brown eyed, and the third had blonde hair and grey eyes. I had to admit, I wasn't particularly pleased that I'd be sleeping in this tiny cabin with four other guys. But, hey, it was better than nothing. Instead of introducing themselves, the three guys just sat staring at the TV. I looked to Alex for help, completely unaware of what I should do. Alex shook his head and stood in front of the TV. "I was watching that!" The ginger one said. "We have a visitor," Alex informed them. I still couldn't get over his husky voice, it just made me feel so alive, and I had no idea why I was feeling that way. He was a guy. Nothing special, just a guy. I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear and smiled shyly at the three males. "Oh. It's the b***h who nearly made us get caught by the cops," sneered the blonde haired guy. Now, don't get me wrong, I was a nice person, but if someone insulted me then I turned into one pissed off women. "Oh. It's the guy you can't tell the difference between your and you're. Much less how to dress himself without looking like an infant!" I shot back, for he was wearing the most ridiculous attire. Blue jeans with red dungarees, which attached to a pale blue shirt. The only thing missing was a bow tie. Blondie looked embarrassed and his cheeks grew red. "Now, now. No need to fight, you don't even know eachother. Luna, this is Max. Max, this is Luna," Alex told us both. Max didn't seemed bothered that I was being introduced properly to him, he just stared ahead, at the white walls like I didn't exist. Same to you Max, I said to myself. "Luna, the redhead is George, and last, and always least, is Sam." George and Sam, by this point, had gotten up and were heading towards the door. I left Alex to bid them farewell as I awkwardly sat on the edge of the worn couch. "Just watch what you're doing, OK? We don't need anymore trouble," hissed Max. My eyebrows shot up and I turned to face Max. "Who says I was going to hang around long enough to cause trouble?" I asked. Max didn't seem like the type to judge too quickly, however, at this moment in time, he was proving me wrong. Max looked surprised, his cheeks growing paler. "You mean you're not here because you fancy Alex?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing! Was Alex really that arrogant? "What? No! I just corrected some stupid grammar mistake on a stupid wall and got swept up into this stupid mess!" I exclaimed. I just wanted to go home. Well, not home. I had no home, I just wanted to go back to the hotel. I heard the door slam shut and then the footfall of who I assumed to be Alex coming closer. "Are you staying the night?" Alex asked Max, in reply, Max nodded his head, his shaggy hair falling into his face. "OK. Luna, you can take the bed, Max you can have the couch and I'll take the flo-" "I can take the floor," I interrupted. I was not about to take charity from a guy I'd just met. Yeah, but you're willing to sleep under the same roof as him, a snide voice in my head answered. "Seriously, it's no problem, I've slept in much harsher places." It was true, I'd once had to sleep outside, in the cold because the nearest hotel was fully booked, not to mention the time I had to take shelter in an abandoned Youth Hostel after an unfortunate disaster. So, really, the floor? It wasn't that big of a deal. Alex stared hard at me, like he was trying to figure me out. "What?" I asked, getting tired of the silence. "I'm sorry, it's just... You said you'd slept in worse places... What did you mean by that?" Max asked me, he seemed genuinely interested so I decided that I'd be friendly. For now. "I travel a lot, I have done for a while, so obviously I've had to find places to sleep, and let's just say that some places weren't exactly like a baby's cot." Alex had his jaw clenched, and Max looked shocked. I mean, we'd never seen each other before, but they weren't expecting me to be a traveller, maybe they expected me to be a tourist. "Well, what do you two want to do? It's about five o'clock now," Alex said abruptly, changing the subject and saving me from the embarrassment of having to explain more about my sleeping quarters. "I'm up for anything," I said, then once I saw the look on their faces, I rolled my eyes. "Anything apart from that." I shook my head as they gave each other one of those looks that said oh-well-maybe-next-time. "Well, I have a few DVDs we can watch, and I crack open the beer. Oh, but you can have some... orange juice if you like," Alex directed that last part to me and I snorted. "I can handle beer, you know." To be honest, I was kind of pissed off that he'd come to that conclusion just because I was a girl. Alex nodded his head, not surprised and walked over to the kitchen, leaning up to grab some cups from the top cupboard, and then leaning down to get the beer out from the fridge. All the while, I'd been staring and turned away, bright red, when I heard Max snicker. For the rest of the night, we all sat, squished on the brown leather couch, watching numerous films, all from different genres. We drank all of the beer and I was pretty sure we were all drunk, not too drunk though, just drunk enough to have a killer hangover in the morning and forget about our miserable lives for a little while.
