As good as dead

The tragedy

November 8th

Lily and her family had settled in well, she hadn't seen much of her neighbours, they only seem to go out at nighttime. As Lily finished her dinner, she headed for the bathroom to shower before bed. Her parents were in their room watching a movie so Lily could finally get some time to herself.

*Smash* there was a loud noise in Lily's parents bedroom, maybe they knocked the lamp off the table? Lily wrapped herself in a towel as she headed to take a look. The hallway was dark and cold, the smell of blood was back again. Lily felt a dark presence through her body. She peered around the door of her parents bedroom and was distraught at the sight. There lay Lily's parents with a strange figure leaning over them. Lily screamed and ran to her room, her phone had no service to call anyone, she couldn't do anything but wait...

More noises came from her parents room, Lily didn't want to see what was happening but a part of her made her get up and creep to their room. She could see a tall man standing over her parents. He was covered in blood. Lily could see her parents bodies mangled in every way possible. The figure turned and looked at Lily. She froze and watched as the figure escaped out of the window. Lily ran to her parents side knowing there was nothing she could do to save them. They were dead.

Lily ran to the neighbours and asked to use their phone, they stood beside her as she called the police. A terrifying sensation ran through her body as she told them what happened. She didn't even know what happened.

The police finally turned up and looked around, they couldn't explain how this happened to Lily's parents. It looked as if a bear mauled them. What happened? What happened to Lily's parents?
