Chapter 5

Two weeks later, Louisa is running into the Moore's construction company with a cup of coffee and a bag of treats. She got herself the attention of the people on the ground floor as she ran to the elevator, most of the looks were of pity. She ignored them and went into the elevator after it opened. "You are late, again." Her boss said, after she knocked and got into the office. "I am sorry, there was traffic on the way and I had to get your coffee -" Louisa began but she was cut off by her boss. "Excuses are for losers. Get to work." The boss said, pointing to a pile of papers that Louisa has to re-type all of it. Her boss happened to be the same woman she came and saw in an awkward position with the COO. She happened to be his secretary, Claire Thompson. Louisa is on school break so she comes to the office early. "Yes, Miss Thompson." Louisa said with a sigh. Since she accepted the job, she has been working under Claire. It was hectic. She gets home late in the evening and leaves for work early. Her boss will call her or send her a text to run one errand or another when she is almost at work. Sometimes when she has already arrived at the building. It has been the same since she started working there. As for the COO, who she learnt his name is, Mr Cyrus Moore. The second son to the founder of the Moore's constructions. He was made the COO recently. She hasn't seen him again since she accepted the job to pay her debt. Although, the next day she came, the door was already fixed. That was when it was all done on her. It is a construction company after all. They have everything they need. Even if it wasn't the case, they have the money to get it done with the blink of an eye. Louisa thought they were only looking for people to work for free. They wouldn't have to worry about paying anyone. Instead, they will be making and keeping the whole profit for themselves. The following week, Louisa came early. luckily, she didn't not receive a last minute errands to get done by her boss. 'Thank god.' "Is this what you are given the position to do, Cyrus? Why do you always try to cause trouble?" An angry voice came from the COOs office. That made Louisa stop in her tracks. She noticed her boss, Claire, was clearing her table. Her face looked pale. "It's not enough that you had to go to rehab, now you are trying to turn out business the perfect place to bring your w***e!?" The angry voice continued behind the closed door. "Claire is not a w***e. She is my girlfriend. You had no right to fire her. She works for me." Louisa recognised the voice that spoke now as Mr Cyrus's. The other voice laughed hysterically before saying, "oh please Cyrus. I have the right to fire youz not just your f**k buddy." The two continued to argue for more than ten minutes. Both ladies just stood there in the secretary's office as the argument continued. When it died down, the door swung open and a man stepped out. He is a splitting image of Cyrus, but older. He stopped and turned to Claire. "What the f*ck are you still doing here? Get out already." He said in a harsh tone. Claire whimpered in her stance. She quickly picked up her box and hurried out of the office. Louisa felt shivers running down her spine at his intense gaze. When he turned to her after Claire had left. "And who are you?" The man asked, raising his brow. "I am - I." Louisa gulped. She couldn't remember the words to say. She went for the simplest. "Louisa." The man looked at her head to toe. Seeing she was dressed decently. Unlike the kind his brother plays around with, he relaxed his face. "What are you doing here?" He asked. Before Louisa could say anything, Cyrus's voice came through. "Go ahead. Fire her too, Jack. I don't need her here." Jack looked at the girl, then back at his brother. A smirk formed on his face. "No. She stays. She looks like a smart one and won't give into your foolishness. Although you look very young. How old are you?" Jace inquired. "I - I am 21 years old." Louisa said. "Are you here willingly, or against your will?" Jack asked, looking at Louisa. "I am here willingly." Louisa answered him, nodding her head. Jack looked at her to see if there was any sign of uneasiness but he couldn't find any. "Ok, good. You can stay." He said, pointing at Louisa. "You are under my authority. Which means, you cannot dismiss her without my knowledge." He addressed his little brother. "Louisa, if you have any problem with him or inappropriate behavior from him, feel free to let me know. My office is just around the corner." Jack explained and Louisa listened attentively. Jack further interrogated Louisa where she told him she is a student. Although both her and Cyrus left out the part that she is working to pay up her debt to him. Jack made sure to warn Cyrus against trying anything inappropriate with a student. That if he did, he will be the one to have him locked up. After that, Jack stormed out of the office. Louisa led out a breath and sat down. Cyrus gave her a questionable look. He put his hands in his pocket before asking her, "Why didn't you tell him that you are paying a debt?" Louisa didn't have any good reason. She also didn't know why. So she questioned him back. "Why didn't you?" 'Oh Louisa, your big mouth will be the end of you soon. 'Maybe too soon.' she thought further when she saw Cyrus walking towards her. Louisa quickly got up and took a few steps back in fear. Her eyes wide open. Cyrus kept walking to her while Louisa kept moving backwards. "How dare you talk back to me!?" Cyrus asked, still walking. "You must learn how to talk to me if you want to survive here." He added. Louisa has reached the wall. She closed her eyes temporarily at the impact of the wall on her back. That did not stop Cyrus from walking to her. He finally closed the remaining gap between them. He put his hand around her neck, squeezing it lightly. His face inches away from hers. Gradually, he was increasing the pressure on her neck. "I liked it when you were my doll to toy around with. But now that I am forced to stick with you here, I will make sure to make your life a living hell, until the point you break down." Cyrus said in a low and scary voice.
